Hi! Can difficulty be adjusted at all? Game length?

I tried to play this game yesterday, and I noticed I have to use keyboard, which is fine. But the keyboard controls are inconsistent so I wasn't able to get very far. The dash seems to go in almost random directions, as I can be holding up and it'll still go forward. And the dash sometimes just doesn't come out when I press x for some reason....
