Perk rewards is a good idea for progression but it does not change XP needed for lvling up.
XP is a major issue for lvl 50 grind.
It's fine at the beginning but it gets very unsufficient later.
1. Whether you travel to the nearest area or at the other side of the galaxy, you get the same XP. This is wrong.
Because of this, it is always better to only take short delivery missions.
Traveling further should reward more to encourage players to accept longer deliveries.
I suggest to increase XP reward based on how many extra jumps you supposedly need to do.
This should be applied on base contract XP before all other bonuses.
That way all other bonuses also profit from this.
If the reward is +100% per extra jump, then making a 3 jumps mission will be equivalent of 3 one-jump missions.
So, this is not overpowered at all but just a fair change that would improve the feeling of beeing well rewarded.
It's also a good way to remove the hassle of constantly docking in every city to pick those short 1 jump deliveries.
2. Whether you play hardcore or easier mode, you still get the same XP. This is wrong too.
I enjoyed hardcore mode, but felt it was a bit unnecessarily difficult, because not rewarding enough.
So I think there should be a difficulty setting to adjust XP reward.
Available XP setting could be 100%, 125% and 150%.
Preset difficulties for each mode could be 100%, 125%, 125%, 150%.
XP for base contract would be:
BaseXP = Base * (100% + (Jumps-1) * X%) * Difficulty%
X% could be 100% or less like 90% or 80% depending on how devs feel about this XP increase.
Extra XP for each skill remains unchanged and applied on final BaseXP value.
This will also encourage to unlock the "Long Distance Jobs" skill which is my opinion quite bad right now; as somebody who chose to make long distance deliveries will actually progress less than someone who only chose short deliveries.
"Long Distance Jobs" skill can also be viewed as a way to compensate if a lower X% factor was chosen.
