Warpgate Collisions
A few time whilst playing there's been a collision of some sort upon entering warp at a gate. This time I was towing Barrow's triple-trailer algae between Haze Way and New Aspen. Kept to the road through the asteroids, low-speed, no collisions, lined up straight at the gate, pulled the lever -- collision, and rear trailed went instantly from 95% to 0%. Barrow said it didn't matter if the algae got a bit battered about a bit, but I assumed 0% was a fail and my last save was Atlas before I even took the job.

Seems to be primarily an issue with Haze way. Not sure if its a bug or intentional.

Same exact thing just happened to me. Barrow's triple algae trailer - Haze Way to New Aspen. There must be an asteroid or something inside that gate...

i had a collision in that town i hate (Edgeburgh) where after a downjump into system and drifting down to a normal travel speed someone came through the down jump, honked, and smacked into me at full speed.
I've ALSO had situations where after a downjump someone saw me, honked, and flew to the side so they didn't impact me.
i was lucky the edgeburgh jump came with an autosave so all i had to do was jump again and pull off to the side. the trucker still came through behind me after the auto save but i was no longer in the downjump lane so things were safe the second time around.

And it's repeatable. Just not sure If I tried 3 trailers through that gate prior to that mission. but now ever time through that gate my middle trailer if hauling 3 will be damaged 100% along with it's contents.

I just had the same thing happen in Haze way - slam into an Asteroid on the way out and destroy my trailers, get an Unsafe Driving penalty. But here's the thing: I must have hit at an angle on the way out because i flew upwards when i left the gate, didn't pass through the Slowdown rings, and had to vent all my air to slow down just in time to slam into some junk outside the map and wreck my cargo anyway.

Haze way is a must avoid sector at this point, not only is it a pain to navigate you can NEVER leave it safely. I reported the bug on the website but this is madness.

Oh, and I didn't even get paid afterwards. In fact, I owe them money. I just reloaded the save and... didn't take the job.

Not going to lie guys, between this, forklifts slamming into me when I'm docked and getting me fined, the razor thin margins, there being no way to change battery drain systems after you start the game, the fact that 'debris detected' messages cover up the cameras I'm using to try and avoid the debris and the screens i use to inspect the damage caused by the debris I ran into because I couldn't steer around them because my cameras were covered up... this doesn't feel like a released game.

I know i'm frustrated at the moment and, sorry, I don't mean to take it out on you, but its just... very disappointing to have runs consistently marred by these bugs.

You're just mad at this moment, let your head cool down before writting a comment next time. This is one singular bug and you're acting like the entire game is unplayable, it will get fixed.

That's a lot of complaints, but I've read that there's a toggle switch in the dash somewhere so the "debris detected" screen doesn't cover other useful screens up at critical moments. It may even be documented in the manual.

That said, if at all possible at this stage I would hope that some of the difficulty options could be changed once having started a game-- I personally played on default for a maximum of a couple of hours before realizing I didn't want to babysit batteries, fuses and air filters constantly, and be on the edge of bankruptcy, so I started over with a custom difficulty. I might have made it too easy but I can at least enjoy the game.

I was upset in the moment and I let myself go off in one in the comments, I admit that, so apologies for that. Its just... This game is very charming, its a really cool concept, and the atmosphere of the game is great... when you're not constantly stressing out because batteries run down in 15 mins or because your cargo got wrecked by you slamming into an asteroid on the other side of a jump gate, or you're getting fined for collisions while you're currently docked and the little forklifts are slamming into you repeatedly.

I guess I'm so frustrated because I WANT this game to succeed, I want to be able to recommend it to my friends who ask about it. As it is... it kind of feels early access and when my friends say "is that any good" I have to say "its a bit too rough to recommend at this point."

I did find that switch eventually, but thanks for letting me know here! I agree, on the default settings things run down so quickly and everything costs so much that what should be a chill game about space trucking becomes incredibly stressful, which is then added on to with things like this that are outside of your control and can ruin a run.

Once you get the Moon Baby scanner you'll make plenty of money. Just learn how to turn all unwanted things off (including lights) until then.
Mobius Sep 20, 2024 @ 10:28am
Funny thing is, I didn't get any missions other than Barrow's ones for a really long time because I didn't pick up Just In Time deliveries, because, well, they sounded really annoying and I didn't want to do them. Because that's required for the first Sour Candy mission it never triggered so I didn't get any of the upgrades until I opened the progression log to work out why the heck I wasn't getting any side missions.

I guess thats kind of my bad, though its a shame I now have JIT missions taking up slots in my mission list when I really don't want to do them. That's a personal preference though.

Just happened to me, now I save before warp gates, lost a lot of money between then and my last save though on repairs, very frustrating.

There's a toggle switch up on the top of the controls, {look upward while in the drivers seat} you can throw to "disable alerts" or some such that will turn off that annoying pop up message so you can actually see the debris when flying by camera.

It doesn't help with the rest of the issues, but when/if you start over with the custom difficulty settings to get around the other hassles, you'll find it helpful.
