Waiting 38 minutes IRL, are you crazy
Got a job, I was 38 minutes early .. and I have to wait 38 minutes IRL so I can drop the cargo.

Are you mad ???

Spending all that power, air filter .. just waiting .. I can not understand this stupid mecanic get in the game. I have bearly time to play game and this is just completly unacceptable. I though this will be a fun game not a Waiting simulator.

Please tell me if I'm making something wrong because I cant not beleive this is part of the game.

Lucky you .. I can refund the game now that I'm 2 hours +

Then i might think this not a game for your precious time to play the game. But I must say the meganic is very good and if u cannot accept how the game plays, maby try again if u have some time to do so and u may very well like it :)

Is there A way to avoid that waiting time ? I try to sleep but I dont think this is a option.

I wonder if this is a type of mission, so I can avoid that ASAP ?

The idea is that you can plan a different route (which doesn't pan out half the time with time dilation), or do other things like shop. It is a bit of a pain to sit in a system waiting 30 minutes for a drop off point to spawn though as a minimum your air filters will wear down, and some battery drain. You can however only accept JIT deliveries that puts you in the window on arrival, or take something else.

There is currently no sleep or wait option. While I was waiting, I alt-tabbed out of the game to watch some YouTube and the game keep running in the background. So that's a thing.

The thing about JIT jobs is that you have a specific window of time. Get there too fast, and you will not be able to deliver it. Candy says so on the mission that becomes available when you purchase the JIT node.

You can see when a mission is a JIT, it's very good practice to make sure you read the missions before accepting them, and to make sure you are okay with whatever they ask you to do.

You can get around JITs by planning longer routes, the late fee on an hour or two is not terrible, so a lot of the time you can also just jump out of the system and back in. The penalty for 2 hours late is like 200cr anyway.

Another thing you can do is just ditch the load on the destination system, and go do something else, including another mission. If you are in emerald junction with an early cargo, for instance, you have enough time to do a delivery to medusa, and then come back to complete the mission.

Saving before you grab any job, in the eventuality that you might pick something that you later regret, is also a very good practice.

The game tells you several times that the point of JITs is that you need to be conscious of the window of time provided. Keep this in mind, and pay attention to the contracts you are accepting next time.

Ok my bad.
I though I have to deliver before the time run out, not after the time run out. Make more sense now.

Can't you just jump out the gate and back in to burn time? Agree with you that it sucks that there's no passive "wait" option or sleep in the bed or anything, but still I think gates burn in-game time and its better than waiting around in system for a half hour realtime.

Yes you can do that, but than it'll be a late delivery. Not sure how much of a penalty that is. The game makes it sound like if you are too late to make the delivery window that it may no longer be accepted, so not sure if you just get a late penalty for JIT or not.

After getting burned a couple of times on the Just In Time jobs, I make sure to look out for the Delivery Window times before accepting. When you first unlock them, they're generally timed where you don't have to wait, so I did a few without issue. I think once you upgrade them to Level 2, the ones where you're 30-60 mins early show up more.

There aren't enough systems/routes to simply "go a different way" like I see people suggest in other threads. You're going to be really late taking the 2nd fastest route in my experience. Though as Ottomic posted above, 200cr fine isn't too bad. I copped a hefty fine for abandoning the trailer and failing the mission one time, so I prefer to just deliver within the window.

You'll generally be a little bit quicker (probably because of ship upgrades) than the estimated time too.

I won't take any that have me waiting 30+ mins, unless it's a job from Planeto, Everycrop or someone for the achievements. The best way to kill time is to use the scanner upgrade and collect all the space junk around the system. Usually takes me ~5 mins for each one and don't have to rush around.

Negligible. Like, 200 credits for a couple hours late.

After you unlock the scanner you can do some salvaging to pass the time if need be.

Maybe this kind of job reflects real life jobs...
But for game it is not good.

Yes, no method to sleep/accelerate time is a bit crazy, for waiting 1 real time hour is really bothersome.

Yeah lol. My dad was a truck driver and plenty of times we had to wait 1-3 hours before we could offload at some places. Good time to do a little maintenance, but mostly kicked stones around.
Pro tip. Dont do just in time deliveries until you get scanner in later game.
After that you can pass the time scavenging and adding extra cash in your bank.
