Thrust left/right/up/down
Is this not possible or am I missing something? Feels very "unnatural" for a lack of a better term to not be able to do this in what's basicly a space trucking game when pretty much every other space game allows for it.

Strafing (dunno how to spell it), I can't believe a space game does not have this. I get it should be limited when you have a trailer, but without one I see no point in not being able to do it.

It's especially frustrating when trying to fly without assist for proper newtonian physics/flight. Without being able to strafe as you called it somewhat fittingly, non-assisted flight is kind of a joke.

I completely agree. The lack of strafing means you have to point the nose upwards, which covers up where you're going. So to correct up a bit, you're flying blind.

Yeah, I miss this too.

It feels very counter-intuitive. So do the W,S keys to aim up and down. It feels backwards from everything else I play, and there is no option to change it.

Counter-intuitive to the point "driving" feels cumbersome I should add. IE not fun. Give me the option for some brain-rot controls at least lol
it feels very hard to fly on keyboard and mouse and impossible to hitch cargo pods specily if that pod is in weird angle since you cannot trust up and down verticly im dealing with that pod for almost half an hour https://i.imgur.com/a4eN0UJ.jpeg and its sad that we cannot change controls either who made reverse key maping? Add straffing down up left right!

I was a little surprised it wasn't there, but it does make sense with the RL truck aesthetic. Your brain can automatically do the trigonometry necessary to line up evenly. It's a different approach, but if you give yourself extra space in front, you can line up just fine.

I agree. Any space game should allow you to rotate on all 3 axis and translate in x, y, and z.

Except that for real life trucks you and the trailer are on the same plane and height and your truck doesn't start pitching up or down whenever you turn, which it does in this game. Either the stability control needs to be more effective than a mild suggestion or they need to allow for strafing.
Instead they've done neither and made the docking even more strict than it was in the demo, before you could get away with being off centre and rely on the game to twist you into position.

While I'm complaining I also don't appreciate getting fined $200 for two traffic collisions during the tutorial before they even let me get out of the chair. Is it that hard to not have AI traffic spawn up your ass for that small section?

Keyboard and Mouse controls are from hell, unfortunately I had to return the Game. :(

I wish you could steer the Truck with the Mouse and assign a modifier Key like Alt+Mouse or so for the Cockpit View. Implement a toggle Key for the view at the Left side Monitor for the times you need to go backwards for coupling. Use W for forward thrust and S for brake/reverse. This would it make much less frustrating.

Space for Forward Thrust and Shift for Brake/Reverse and the Nose steering with W/S/A/D are so unintuitive for me.

With some experience of docking from X-beyond the frontier and later, I was able to hitch trailers more or less fine -- you can always fly away a bit, turn the truck's rear to the point a couple of meters in front of the hitch, drive back at it, then stop and align ithe truck along all axes for a perfect match.
But since the game penalizes you for taking too long with these tasks (both with timed deliveries and with all your systems consuming the batteries which cost monnies), I would have as well preferred it to be either unlimited by time or to have shortcuts.

The entire game is designed around trying to maneuver a goofy unweildy space truck around and learning how to deal with its complications and limitations. That's the fun of it.

Did you guys complain that there wasn't a brake in Lunar Lander

The lunar lander DID have a brake. It was the landing motor. It also had thrusters to yaw, pitch, roll strafe and slew.

I think that if you're looking for a space trucking experience that has enough realism to include translational controls, you shouldn't consider star trucker. it would be really nice to have translational controls in this game. but the devs really wanted to marry the unique struggles of driving a Semi Truck with the scenery and dimensionality of a space flight simulator. this means that it has to drive like a truck, so it's unwieldy and it has kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ visibility and a big ass nose. all while you struggle to keep the damn thing running.

I think if the controls of the game are proving to be a barrier to you, perhaps consider getting a copy of Star Citizen or Elite; Dangerous. I've played both of those games and I personally prefer SC but E;D is great too.
