But no we have to make our own manual and screenshot or take a physical picture of the store and it's pricing. That's lame and again very tedious. Least they could have done to make trading better is have a virtual trading market built into the game cockpit monitors.
Nope, they'd rather us randomly go to every single shop (meanwhile destroying the cargo if not in a box) which lessens the value A TON. Oof. I don't know if I can do it any more. Sadly the fun has wore off big time for me at this point. And I don't think I care enough to start it all over again.
but would say more trailers isn't fun, and more so when you can't upgrade the chain link to become magnetic for more control and less self collisions. (could be a decent mid/late game upgrade).
The black screen party was notably underwhelming. Even just a comic strip style graphic would've been cool.
I wish the constant maintenance drain on funds was replaced by interior upgrades or something if wanting to hamstring the player. Finally getting the truck upgrades near maxed now after 27 hours of play and haven't thought about any cosmetic upgrades yet. Made most of my money trading goods with some short hauls to wherever I was heading, if they were available. Sometimes couldn't be bothered going to the job board though. Feels like something you could view and accept from your truck's computer.
seems like reloading before that helped me, or after.
Yes, some story line quests are less enjoyable then others, but it gives it....I dunno, a type of vibe that makes is stand out. Each one feels different and unique and not some cookie-cutter template with a change of lines and/or voice actors.
I think (personal opinion) that for just a couple of people, they did a bang up job on this game and am looking forward to what else they bring.
I do quite like this balance though because it means I have something to work on, you have to grind the deliveries and trade items to get enough money to do the next step in the story. Otherwise you'd complete the game in a few hours and be done.
And to be fair doing deliveries is what the game is all about so its nice to have a reason to do more of them.
I suppose if you just want to experience the story then you could change the game mode to something less punishing.
Nope, some black cut screen that kinda... sucked, no offense devs.
I like the story, personally—makes the world feel a bit less lonely, bit more alive; gives me something to work toward in the background. I think the devs envisioned that you'd mostly be hauling around as you pleased & whenever near a story beat might go over & check it out, spaced between regular missions.
Tbh I didn't even notice that they didn't give exp—but if they don't, that is an inexplicable oversight.
There's a lot of stuff like that in this game, I notice. Overall, it so perfectly scratches an itch I've had for the last year at least that I can't help but love it & there are so many little touches where I just think "YES! YOU GOT IT RIGHT! THANK YOU!"
(e.g.: all the manually-actuated controls in the cab; I don't want hotkeys for everything so I feel like I am a Star Truck, I want to have to actually operate controls so I feel like I am a Star Trucker,, if you know what I mean. The screens in the cab aren't just set dressing, they are how you actually look at readouts, and when the WARNING displays on them and you think "I want that to stop doing that", you turn it off IN THE TRUCK just like you'd really do!)
I love it so much. Having to go around maintaining power cells & air filters may irritate some (& luckily there's a setting for it if so), but that's what I've been wanting... the "experience" of owning & operating my own home-on-the-road space vehicle, setting the thermostat & repairing the hull & stocking up on supplies just like one would presumably really have to do, instead of abstracting & automating it all away.
...and then you have ♥♥♥♥ like:
→ "Trailers have mag locks on both sides & are obviously designed to be inter-operable, and you can accept up to 3 contracts at once—a stupid thing to do... unless you can do multiple runs at once—and oh look, just so happens you can also haul 3 trailers at a time!
→ "So: clearly we can pick 'n' choose our own loads & make bank with some real road trains! Er, space trains! Space truck trains! COOL! Imma get that skill ASAP!"
...and then ofc it turns out hahahaha no you can't for some reason only premade sets of 2+
like... why? That one was a gimme. Come on.
Or: I don't even mind the keybinds they have as default—but I understand why people are boggled by this, because is that not standard? wtf? Especially in THIS genre!
...and then again, you have the amazing effort that went into the visuals & manifold different areas, the excellent radio & ambient sound, even down to commercials about products you can actually acquire...
The speedometer suddenly slamming up against the right-hand side of the dial when you use a jump gate. The satisfying clunk and chkh and chsss and ktunk of the sound design... hell, even sitting down in the piloting chair is perfect.
Little touches & polishes that are so good, combined with oversights that you would suspect had to have been designed by someone given a pity job because they're the CEO's retarded little brother or something.
It's maddening.
Still love the game, though... nothin' else like it.
Yeah, I was hoping for the same—but if you think about it, that would take a lot of extra stuff being implemented that would hardly ever be used, really. People would then complain about the devs taking time to code boring walking simulator sections instead of giving us more trucking... Lol.
Some of the story missions I didn't mind much, but the worst were the Barrow missions by far. Also, that one "Deep Sweep", or something like that, where you had to find those stupid markers in order to locate Moon Baby's father.
That was terrible.. All that crap just to find out he wasn't there was a complete waste of time. I don't know if they play their game or not, but I would really like to know their reasoning for some, or most, of the story missions..
Luckily for me though, I was able to complete them all without encountering any bugs. So I manages to get all the achievements and don't have to play through the story again.
Which is a bit of a shame because apart from the crappy story missions I really did enjoy them game. I've never played any kind of game like this before, but I was rather taken with this one.
