Follow the highways. High speed, zero debris.
When approaching load/unload zones then drive carefully. Slower speed = more time to react plus have enough time for truck inertia to be changed.
Your problem is cutting across shortest distance at high speed. So you hit debris. Which is intended.
Delivered loads of jobs and not had a single hull breach. In Junk Fields and other places too.
You have a big warning on your monitor and the yellow warning indicator as well when debris is near so it's really your own fault if you wreck the rig.
Again... skill issue.
I dont think we should remove every single thing players find hard in the game, or else, wheres the challenge ?
Next you guys are gonna ask for auto-pilot and subsidy money every 30 minutes...
Game is already infuriatingly easy.
How about you drive slower, dodge the debris and upgrade your hull so you can actually resist the impacts?
My truck is at level 2 hull and it can hit medium size debris at 80km/h and barely take any damage, and punctures don't seem to occur above 50% hull.
In Atlas prime, at the exit of the highway after the rest station, there are debris everywhere on a busy route to a logistics center.
I don't remember the name of the sector, it's 2 jumps away from Atlas Prime, there are no highways in this one, but debris absolutely every where, especially near jumpgates (always nice to hit something when coming out of a gate, this time I can't control speed), or right in front of bays.
When I'm in a debris field, I drive around 40~50km/h to make sure to have enough time to react if I see debris.
Then re-read the part about hitting nothingness. I was out of a debris field, I didn't have the task of collision on on the dashboard, and paf, 20% hull integrity off, two holes in the hull. And there was nothing and I was driving slowly.
Key words there are "at the exit." Do you barrel down the ramp from an Interstate highway and into local downtown traffic at 80 miles an hour? If so I'd hate to be responsible for your insurance premiums...
Higher speed IN the highways, but when you approach the end slow down BEFORE you get there and you can usually safely dodge any nearby debris.
I do agree that it would be an improvement if things were recoded so that gates either had a "forced clear" area that guaranteed a safe exit from the gate until you can retake control, or at least ensured that nothing bigger than minor debris could spawn there- the equivalent of the truck in front of you on the highway pitching a piece of gravel with their tire and whacking the windscreen. But no large chunks, nothing that guarantees a breach at speeds over 5, etc.
And the invisible blockage incident you mentioned was just bloody weird. Best guess there was a glitch that caused it not to do a visual render or trigger the debris sensor for a random chunk-o'-junk, but the object tracking still recorded the collision.
So logically, yep, that shouldn't be there.
Gameplay wise? Keeps things from going stale too quickly. see it like potholes in a busy road you need to use every day. you've complained 5 times to the government but they just won't fix the pothole.
you'll find that some sectors are much tidier and more professional in their upkeep than others- it's kinda cool :D
To address the issue itself: The game already has a fantastic menu to adjust the game to your liking. I don't understand, why the debris-density isn't an option there.
If you believe the game is to easy, fine... add more debris to have fun. If you are annoyed by it, why shouldn't you be able to reduce it? You already can adjust nearly every aspect of the game. Why is this part missing?
