Not if you change it out in a dock
Maybe some vehicle upgrades that could allow you to strap boxes to the shelves, or to have a few builtin foam-filled containers ?
I'd be fine if you could only strap in boxes.
Especially since some trade goods won't fit into a hardcase in the first place.
Add straps, but rather than a 100% protection have them maybe reduce the damage to stuff that's secured by a sizeable percentage (25/50/75% depending on quality of the strap system you invest in maybe) so you still have an incentive to drive cautiously to preserve their resale value.
Oh jeez this is good to know
but yeah, cargo savety was never heard of in this universe and ppl here like to get smashed in the head by floating stuff. Cargo straps would really be nice or better doors on the shelves
Having straps and running with grav off would be less consequence-free than saving core power by being in the dark all the time.
But in the meantime.... have you tried putting the box on the rack, and then opening it...? :D
Still would be nice to have straps, because while that trick does stop the cases and their cargo from floating off under zero-g, a collision will still turn them into missiles. Discovered that the hard way when some cop-bot changed course to ram me from nearly point-blank range. Boxes all over the cabin, an RD fine, critical hull level, and four hull breaches to weld *sigh*
