you are too early and there is no area free right now.
but waiting would be nice
As far as I can tell, I either get loads that will be late regardless of the course I take, or 20-30mins early. So either im getting stiffed on the bill or im waiting half my play time just to drop off one load. There is no way to tell how long each jump takes, at least none that I have seen. So i take a load with 3 jumps and arrive so early I'd rather quit playing the game then wait. If i dump the load it will cost me twice the amount i would have made, and since im trying to keep batteries, air filters, and shock sensors in stock I almost never have the funds to actually dump a load.
A simple mechanic that allows you to pass time would significantly increase play ability of the game.
Companies don't have an unlimited number of docks or docks hands, (same for the warehouse where the goods will end) so trucks arrival are scheduled and have to be followed.
Most of the companies I've worked for had around 4~5 docks for arrivals, but only 3 to 4 dock hands. Imagine the nightmare it would have been if every trucks arrived early.
The only company I heard about fining early truck was from one of my teachers though, more than 10 docks, and people working there barely had the time to take their mandatory pause, so trucks arrivals and departures had to be regulated like clockworks.
That might be the case, however I am sure those drivers have the option of going to get some food, to the store, or even taking a nap to wait for a dock. Things they can do for their real life. As well, that is their JOB. This however, is a game. To make people sit around for 30+ mins to try and simulate a real life occurrence is a horrible design decision in my opinion.
Beyond that even the physics in this games isn't very realistic. If i turn my grav off, for instance, my cargo will only shift forwards. Even if i gun the gas the cargo still goes forward. While the first law of motion is "an object in motion stays in motion" would dictate that any object at rest in a 0g environment would stay put until hit. So it should all fly backwards since the truck itself is the only part moving. So trying to say that the delays are due to some realism they're trying to install into the game doesn't sit well with me. Looks to me more like an oversight on their part. They have a bed that's there for aesthetics, they should just add a function to pass time on the bed and be done with it.
I totally get, that they have implemented the Just in time delivery system exactly as it works in real life. But it just isn't fun gameplay wise when you cannot speed up or pass time.
The fact that you have to sit there, do nothing and wait REAL LIFE MINUTES for each ingame minute is ridicoulous. There often just isn't anything that I can do ingame to pass time naturally. Sometimes you are stuck in a system with a shop or you have already been to a shop. Or you have no money to spend in the shop.
The only possibility to advance time is by jumping through jump gates. But if the jump is too long you might overshoot and miss the delivery window.
Overall: The way just in time deliveries are implemented is just terrible. An easy fix would be to let us pass time on command. Thanks.
I can't even jump a system because time dilation blows that apart too. It's a literal dead-end.
Like, did the devs even play their game???
How long do they really think it should take? We're all out here maxing for ship upgrades. Meanwhile the clock is saying SLOW DOWN. So boring. Nah, I think I'm good on that. Let me play my way tyvm.
Simply put, it's a very STUPID decision to add "real life" mechanics in a game that is nothing close to real life.
Now let us talk about one major glaring problem... the game can be completed in the TEN HOURS Aside from running here to there (which is barely fun at all because of the ridiculous damage system). What is there to do really? Wait to unlock the rest of the map and that's about it.
You mean to tell me that in the WORLD OF STAR TRUCKING everyone HAS THE SAME TRUCK!? There's not even ONE TRUCK other than the standard that we can buy???? SMH.
You know what this game truly is? It's... Look at me aren't I pretty!? And that's about it. And to that I say, sure it's pretty alright. Pretty basic.
Haha yea I have an HOUR wait and every jump out of the system is at least an hour so I would miss the window. Currently I have 28 mins left and I’m just watching YouTube and browsing the guides.
Yep, you heard it devs. Sounds fun right? Is this really the experience you were hoping to give your player base? If so, it's a bit narcissistic don't you think? Meh, who cares anymore right?
