Honestly the visual navigation is kinda bad at the moment: you can see from the main map that the sector got a fuel pump, but you see the mark on the hud only when in proximity (you have the marker of a station and only when you approach it, you can see the various shops, job office etc)
Or maybe some more detailed signs in game, so for example you can see the lane to reach "x station" and see the icons for a fuel pump or trade shop. present at that station.
Genuinely but confused how you're supposed to know where to go and feel rather lost.
Like they made out that the prep and navigation is a big deal, but like I swear ets has daisy chained way points 1,2,3 etc.. and I genuinely think this game desperately needs this.
Like you've said above could just be 2d top down maps withajor locations able to be identified and clicked to easily add a nab point.
If dumb and something like this exists in game pls tell me. If it doesn't, genuinely think it needs to be added.
In that situation I wouldn't mind as much, and it could show up as a giant green or unique coloured icon like the current mission marker, or a numbered icon/symbol of store you've marked. Would still like a mini or map option but this would eliminate the issue.
Could also allow people to view those shops and see what they have etc.. Just all round would add to the strategy and planning portion that feels severely lacking. I don't think that's just a new player thing, even though for me at least it left me feeling blind confused and directionless, as if at any point I'd be stuck without a necessary item or resource in the middle of nowhere.
Like their marketing makes clear that's possible. I like that. But yoooo. Lemme set out my trip properly.
Yeah, if there was a way to set a destination that would help. Mobius1 mentioned the scanner, I know the scanner can located salvage but I don't know if it identifies where services are located, starting out though you don't have it. So you're left with a bit of trial and error. I've only went to a nothing location a couple of times before I started taking the name of the place into account for what is more likely to have services.
Who knew a pharmaceutical station didn't have a shop that sold pharmaceuticals? I didn't until I travelled there and circled around and found out it was nothing. Maybe it was kind of silly of me to assume that I could buy pharmaceuticals at a station that had it in the name. So now I just go to actual stations that sound like they're just a main station in the area, and not specifically named ones.
And okay yeah with couple more trips under belt yup totally with you, and exact same pain driving around unsure wasting mats.
Tho I guess you could say you 'get to know em' I still just don't like it.
Strategise and plan, it was on the store page, made it seem rather important and tbh it could and should be more so.
System maps and system Nav points devs, it seriously makes sense.
