Unanswered Question can you help?
How do you undock with the load in tow?

Ive asked this twice now in the general chat of the Game Devs discord then was redirected and asked in the Discord channel for the game and I still have no response 3 days later.

Im using an old school xbox 360 controller. I have not been able to undock with cargo in tow as of yet.

Upon docking to the Cargo pickup and having the trailer on or at least I think is on I cant leave with the trailer on my ship. So I need to know how to undock with the trailer behind me and leave to my delivery destination.

i can't for the life of me understand what the issue is here, is this a bug you're having? You can't undock with a trailer on? but "undock" where from...?

There is no "undocking"! You fly backwards to the cargo, dock it (the red lever on the left side) and then simply accelerate. That's all.

It sounds like you're experiencing one of a couple potential things.
Either...
1: You're wondering why, after accepting a contract, the cargo isn't automatically attached to your truck. The answer to this is that after accepting a contract, you'll be given a destination to travel to which will have the trailer you're meant to collect. The trailer will not be attached right after accepting the contract.
2: Somehow you manage to dock at the station while towing a trailer, and you're trying to figure out how to undock from the station, while still being connected to your trailer. If #2 is what you're dealing with... I've never tried docking with a station while hauling a trailer. I don't know the solution for this scenario.
The lever is an all purpose clamp; it hooks to both trailers and station docks.

Neither. I went to the cargo and I was trying to leave with it. It wont leave the station.
I try to leave thinking its hitched automatically upon my backing up and connecting.
I then tried to drive forward thinking the trailer would be on and its not.

I didnt save and I dont know if you can save ill have to drive back to the load and try again.

It sounds like I messed up and thought the hitch lever was unhitching upon toggle.

So am I understanding this correctly? The lever Hitches as well as unhitches? And that after docking I have to hit the lever switch again to attach the Trailer?

The First drop states to use the switch to unhitch the load it doesnt tell you that you use that switch again to also hitch your loads. If that is in fact what I was supposed to do.

I somehow dumped the job while docked so I blew whatever chance I had there to try that lever Ill try again.

Thanks yall. Ive played ETS2 and ATS lots of miles in those used to autohitch after lining up the kingpin with the fifthwheel I guess.

Found the problem. You use that lever not only to hitch/unhitch but to Maglock in general to the Station the Station has that Hud item that says Port 3 or whatever leading you to believe that you are docking to the Station which has your current chosen job upon choosing it.
The Reality was that the Station more like the job Office youre docking to access the job list for the next location to pick up your trailer from. So there isnt a trailer behind you when you dock.

Once you have chosen the job while docked to the main station only then do you see the Cargo Location which is actually not on the station at all and is a separate cubicle identical to the one you first drop the load off at when you first start the demo.

Thats why the lever would "Hitch Unhitch" with no cargo when you left the station.
It wasnt that there was no option to undock with the cargo it was that there wasnt any cargo in that station for you to be mag locked onto to start.

It doesnt make sense that you would have option to "Hitch" to the station VS Connecting like say Space Engineers has their Connectors. Youre not hooking onto anything youre simply magging on but a persons first thought would likely be ok Im backing in to get my load here... so once Ive chosen my job the trailer I pick will be attached to my truck at this station Im now backed into and have slid backwards into as if Im being hitched to a trailer.

Misleading.

the game clearly shows you the pickup zone where you have to attach your trailer. It honestly surprises me how people these days just don't explore at all, they just "assume" everything and if it doesn't go the way they assume it, it's the game's fault.
Hell, you have an interactive UI that TELLS you "this is the pickup poin" - it's a symbol you have to drive towards to collect your cargo.

everyone is speedrunning games these days instead of enjoying them and they go around and expect every game they play to be holding their hand.

When the demo was first released and after i docked i went around the entire truck inside and out exploring what I can do and where everything is.
