The funny thing is that the inside of the truck could hypothetically stay the same; it'd mostly be a cosmetic external appearance.
The options for official paid truck shape DLC and Steam Workshop are virtually endless. Especially since (so far) it's going to be a single player offline game. They could even sell new truck cabin DLC (even if some are planned for launch, they could always make more).
You wanna drive the Macy's Day Shrek balloon? Why not, it's your game. You wanna drive Thomas the Tank Engine? Why not? You wanna slap Marvel's the Green Goblin on the grill of your truck? Space X Falcon 9 rocket segment? Why not? Hatsune Miku truck? Whatever your imagination can come up with, so long as it fits in the hit box or whatever. Someone might even want to lean in to the Optimus Prime look are slap an Autobots logo on the grill.
It'd be up to the devs if they want to give players that power, of course. Would probably have to put up a disclaimer about how unofficial mods might prevent the game from running properly, and how they're not responsible for any potential trademark or copyright infringement caused by players using mods. Good idea though.
But the gameplay is really fun, but this whole "american truck" experiance feels kind of forced on it. I would love some more realistic trucks and maybe less "americanisation" haha
But i think thats just the theme of the game, so they wont change it.
It's not about making sense, it's about having fun.
For you, you don't want the skins, so don't use them.
For them, they sound like they'd enjoy choosing cosmetic items which play with the look of the truck.
You can both be happy with this. It's an offline single-player game. Them getting what they want has no impact on your gaming experience.
