How to connect highway and monorail?

Greatly enjoying the new highway and monorail creation feature! However, is there a way to auto-connect highway/monorail segments so that they align and continue automatically? Holding down the CTRL button doesn't seem to do anything...

Holding CTRL will place a pylon in the same spot as another, but there is no way to extend a high way by attaching two together. However, the road system can be stretched as far as you needed it too.
