Banner Saga: Loading screen not loading but doesn't crash? This fix worked for me...
Hey Banner Saga family,

So I just got through the whole of the first game with no issues (not played 2 or 3 yet so no spoilers please) until right at the end of the game after battling Bellower. The next screen just would not load, it just kept churning but didn't crash as I could move my cursor. So I crashed out of it myself and trawled the web for answers and a mixture of two suggestions worked with a little extra foresight on my part. I'm playing on Windows 10 PC and play online on Steam.

So here's what I did and I hope it works for you, please give a thumbs up or a comment if it works. This is my first time creating my own help thread so I'd appreciate it.

1. Go into each Banner Saga game property setting (even if you've not played the others yet) and verify the integrity of game files. Instructions below if you don't know how to do this.

2. Disable the Steam Cloud. Again if you don't know how to do this follow the instructions below. Really hope this helps as I was ready to pull my long locks out so I know how frustrating it can be. Good Luck.

VERIFY INTEGRITY OF GAME FILES: Right click on Banner Saga>Properties>Local Files>Verify Integrity of game files. (repeat this process for each Banner Saga game)

DISABLE STEAM CLOUD: Go into the Steam menu (usually top left corner) then Settings>Cloud and un-check the box that states 'Enable Steam Cloud synchronization for applications which support it'.

Hopefully that should do the trick, it worked first time for me. The only thing that I noticed was that all of the Renown that I'd achieved during the last fight didn't carry over when it went to the next rest stop so I'm not sure it's worth taking out the other fighters surrounding Bellower - did anyone else experience this?

I apologies for all of you tech types for the long winded explanation but I wanted to make this fix accessible to players of every level. I certainly don't know what half of the abbreviations and jargon you use means :steamhappy:

Argh, j'ai également ce problème. L'écran de chargement bloque après le second combat contre Hurleur. Du coup je ne peux pas terminer le jeu.... J'ai essayé de faire cette manip (vérification des fichiers locaux, tout ok et désactiver le cloud mais ça ne change rien au problème chez moi malheureusement). Quelqu'un aurait une astuce ? J'ai acheté la trilogie ça m'embete un peu de ne pas pouvoir continuer à cause d'un bug... Merci d'avance.

Thank you so much for sharing these workarounds! With the game being older, it's important to keep in mind that these adjustments may be needed to give players the best experience. : )

I am so sorry this workaround hasn't worked for you, that sucks. I did see some other suggestions when I was piecing this together that just said to keep trying the fight and eventually it worked for them. Other than my suggestion I can't think of anything else. So sorry, I'm not very technical. I hope it works for you eventually. It might be worth while updating your drivers if they haven't been done recently? Good look :)

Hi there, you're very welcome. It was driving me to distraction and when I found a fix that worked for me I thought there must be more gamers out there that this was happening to as well, so I was happy to share and hopefully help :steamhappy:
