no, you play from the view of a father and a daughter and in banner saga 1 ending you choose which one to continue with.

Well thats a let down for me.

Actually you play as a lot more than just the father/daughter. Give it a try, you might like the different POV in the game. :)

Not really i would rather make my own character.

that's a bit of a shame. the art is dope, the music is beautiful, and the tactical gameplay pretty good. but it's your money and you should spend it on something you really want.

Yeah i think the art is beautiful and the game looks good but i would just rather play a game where i can make my own character than be forced to play as somebody i don't like.

word my dude. the banner saga is an extremely character driven story/game, and if you don't feel like taking those characters to the end of their journey then there isn't much to be said that could convince you to play.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions about the game.

We're happy you checked about it! Maybe someday when you want to take a journey and relax and let someone else be the MC you'll be back. Also please note for future reference, although you aren't the 'MC' you make every decision for the characters through whom you view the stories. :)

I typically prefer to make my own characters too, but I'll just mention a few things:
1. There is a pretty wide range of dialogue options that will let you play your characters basically how you want.
2. It isn't a situation where you're locked on rails and must make choices that follow a particular character's storyline (the Persona series, which I love, is notorious for doing this in P4/P5—false choices that provide a set outcome). The game doesn't feel like it limits your choices at all—in fact, the impact of your choices are what make the game way more replayable than you'd think at first. (As in characters can die from event choices, or the people you're protecting can suffer). The point I'm making here is that you can play how you want, making choices in whatever character direction you want to take the story, and the game will reinforce that.
3. There is no set "main character." The story follows several groups; in the first game, it's two groups. You play as the ostensible leaders of each group (and choices made in BS1 will determine who leads in BS2).
4. The games are pretty short. A hard time cap, if you take your time and read everything, is 20 hours max on BS1 for one playthrough. It might be worth it to take a look, at least in BS1, and see if you like the mechanics enough to make up for what it's missing in terms of character creation.

If it doesn't sound like your thing, that's cool. Play what you want!

The game is just not my cup of tea i would rather play as the MC my own character than play as some one else but still the game looks good the art is beautiful same with the sound track.
