Wizardry Variants Daphne

Wizardry Variants Daphne

Why is this game free?
What is the catch here? DLC required? Crazy Bit coin mining taking over your CPU? Spyware?

maybe all the above (except dlc required) but it started on mobile and its gatcha so there's that, also kernel level drm on install if you don't know what that is check it out people hate it for a reason

with that said best 1st person turn based dungeon crawler in Wizardry vein I've played, i've played many of them at this point..even a some of the japanese and console ones.

btw you don't need to pay to play this game (not pay to win), at least thats been my experience so far, ive seen ppl say that changes much later in the game.

Very top of an end game. It gets hard to push it if you don't pay or farm like hell. Thou, it is waaaay into the end game. Like we speak about last 20%-30% of the end game itself. If you are not worrying about pushing the game to the limit too much. You will be fine. Easily 100+ hours of fun without even a cent of investment.

It's a gacha game. It prints money because people are willing to pay for in game stuff given the option. It made $5m last month.
The store is expensive, except for a couple things. Games make far more money as micro-transaction than upfront purchase nowadays. You can definitely do well as F2P, but it will take longer to catch up

This game has the worst monetisation i've seen in a very long time.
Damon Apr 7 @ 12:42am
If you think it's too much monetisation then try not drool over unnecessary things. There's not any other choice. If you still want to spend a little cash for useful stuff then all mission passes should be very decent enough.

It's by far the most expensive gacha in a very long time. The prices are awful at 4 USD for one (1) pull, there is no pity system, and spark currency doesn't carry over. Drecom out here making the entirety of China and Korea blush with the audacity of these price tags.
And the f2p currency drip feed is extremely slow. You get a whole 3 pulls every two weeks! Every other popular gacha on the market at this point gives you AT LEAST triple that in the same amount of time, usually even more than that.

Yeah sadly few things are very expensive still they are not necessary. I have seen a couple worse games such as Idle Heroes for pretty much same prices though with much lower summon chance. You would need be millionaire in that p2w game and there is a lot competition in it too.

I have played the game for a while now and can definitely see that f2p is viable, you get lots free stuff if you progress the game. And the vanilla legendaries are already top-tier to have and they don't cost cash.

I hope drecom is paying you for defending the game.
At the current state of the game most vanilla legendaries are useless to the point that some of them (like Gerulf) are used just to dismiss them for tags. because on their own they suck and their inherited skills also suck. Even Debra isn't immune because the chests get scaled so hard elf wizards become the best chest openers, and again, you can just use thief mc which will be the best thief you can currently get by default with the exception of the newest one because of astral break which is op as hell. Not only that, with the advent of some new gacha-only skills the balance has completely shifted because Tzalik and Astral Break have no damage caps unlike vanilla skills. And even then if you want to actually become able to beat Guarda you WILL need many dupes of several named characters to get skills like Latumofis 3 and Heavy attack 3. The design is outstandingly predatory. Sure, the first two abysses were fine but with the current fighter and crossover events as well as Guarda I hope you like paying mucho money for characters and their dupes or you will experience nothing but pain and frustration.

technically, there is a pity system. whenever you do a feature pull, you get 1 point to exchange in the shop. if you do 100 pulls, you get 100 points and can exchange them for a guaranteed pull of the featured toon.

that's how the pity system works in gachas, you gotta do a lot of failed pulls to earn the "pity".
an f2p player is not gonna get that many pulls without paying.

also, yeah, the amount of free pulls it gives is ridiculously low, but there's a special location called the mausoleum and you can earn pulls from there. l after paying a fortutude tax. like, it costs 50 fortitude every time you attempt it and there's a risk of encountering an enemy that can kill you in 1 hit automatically. i did it twice and earned pulls and never encountered the enemy, but yeah, then i gotta wait for fortitude to refill

That's not a pity system, that's a spark system, there is no pity.
And unlike other spark systems, the currecncy doesn't carry over, so either you save for 100 pulls or go ♥♥♥♥ yourself.
i never heard of "spark system", but then , i don't usually play gotchas.

and that's why i said "technically". because it has the same end result.
pity just gives you the character after enough failed pulls.
this system gives points to trade for the character.

it's technically the same end result.

and yeah, i realized that pretty quickly, gotta save up for 100 pulls, dunno how lomg that's gonna take. ii have 6900 green gems right now, it would have been 11k but i spent 4000 on 22 pulls from lanavaille banner on my first day and got lucky.
and i also spent 100 on an amnesia potion to remove a bondmate from someone.

It will take a very long time. The currency is drip-fed to you slower than every popular gacha on the market, 3-4 times slower at least. You basically want to not spend gems on anything.
Spark systems nowadays use a currency you get by doing pulls, it sometimes (most of the time nowadays) carries over to other banners. It doesn't here.
A pity system is a counter that tells you that you are guaranteed to get a legendary, S tier, whatever character after n pulls. The counter does not reset between banners and only resets when you get a legendary. There's also usually a 50/50 when you get a legendary for it to be the banner's one, wit hthe second one being a guarantee. This system doesn't exist here. You are not guaranteed at any point to get the character at the banner from pulls.
You get an amnesia incense for free by dismissing a bondmate.

I'm just seeing it and many other players than you say it's viable to play as f2p. Though I'm still pretty early in game. You maybe made some valid point, I will keep playing and see how worse it becomes. I also don't like if there is some serious paywall that is completely dead end otherwise.

People are already hitting a wall with the current two events (the crossover that ends in about an hour and the fighter challenge) where you either had to abuse the bugs that have already been patched to clear them or have full kill teams with heavy attack 3 spam/full power strike spam.
