Wizardry Variants Daphne

I can't even reach boss in Bronze grade exam
What am i even suppose to do here?
Encounter, sleep sleep sleep dead
Other encounter, sleep sleep dead
Other encounter, ambush on corner, dead.
Finally reached the possible spawn point, boss is not here. Run out of resources. I'm already pushing my items to +10, but running out of gold. I have no clue how to proceed. If i spend to much SP or MP i will not have enough resources to deal with the boss. But hell with that i can't even try him because he is never on spot i reach.

Skill issue. Get scrolls to conserve Mana and only go to the nearest spawn location until you find the boss there. Try to sneak around/behind mobs if possible.

There is nothing really deep about getting this exam, so just bash head against wall
Yeah, sneaking is a big deal. It can make or break your run - go back and start over if you have too many encounters.

I was lucky that the boss spawned at its closer location & I was able to get the whole (Lead) Exam done on my first try, but a big part of that is also because I prepared a ton before trying it - watch someone do it on YouTube and get a feel for it because it's literally the equivalent of prepping a Maat fight to unlock level cap on Final Fantasy XI. I've not had such a level of difficulty through prep & execution in about a decade.

{Edit, realised this was for Bronze and not Lead)

Encounters are set, its not luck. Just reset until the boss is at the nearest possible location and try to sneak (not always possible)

Farm purple/blue iron or steel gear with high star level(3+) at the Water Way and level them as high as you can. That was the only way I could do it with my party set-up.

Use your inventory wisely. Get HP potions and scrolls for mages. Try get different formations. Only try one route and if the boss is not there retreat back to town and sleep.

Try not use too much but here:

Good luck. I had to try about 10 times or so if I´m not mistaken.

Dodge the mobs and git good.

I got destroyed the first two tries and was wondering if it was even possible to win then beat it on the 3rd with everyone alive by focusing on killing the green things first by using silence (spellbind) on them and Cortu or whatever it is to protect from spell damage. I cast a lot of debuffs like Blind from the thief and I had a lowish level ninja along too, level 23 iirc, who could also do a single target "voice steal" spellbind and not much else of use.

My armor is all pretty crap +1 iron but I farmed a couple of those Dragonslayer greatswords to give MC and Fighter and got +10 on them.

My party is fighter, mc, ninja... thief, priest, mage.

The silence advice is a goated one actually thanks. It is cheap and even if you cant cover everyone, decreasing amount of enemy rolling sleep or simply casting damage is substantial boost in survivability.

Hey there! The only real advice I can offer right now is this:

1. Gear Up Wisely:
Try to get your gear upgraded to +15 if you can. If not, aim for the highest-tier equipment available to you at your current point in the story. Optimizing your gear makes a big difference, especially early on.
2. Party Layout Tips:
Just curious — what's your current party setup?
Are you running a front line of Thief, Fighter, Knight? Or something different, like two mages in the back?
You can of course play how you want, but here’s what I found works well:
  • Front Line: Your main character + Thief + Knight
  • Back Line: Two Mages + one Priest who can throw out buffs
Later on (around level 60), I recommend having some of your characters switch classes — for example, flipping between Priest and Mage — so they can learn a broader set of spells.
3. Navigating Exams (Bronze):
Since you're still in the Bronze tier, I'd focus on having a solid party layout and mastering map navigation.
  • Try to get a map layout of the exam you're on.
  • Beeline to the boss as best you can.
  • If you see a monster and you don’t have to fight it — run. Seriously.
  • You can dodge fights by baiting enemies down hallways or into larger 2x2 rooms, then slipping past them.
  • You’ll have to fight a few enemies who are directly blocking your path, but avoid others when possible.
The reason is: you want to save as much mana and skill points as possible for the boss fight.
If you burn through resources fighting everything on the way, the boss will be a nightmare. Better to conserve and come in strong.
Hope that helps! And before I go — let me know your party setup. I'm genuinely curious how you're running things.

"The issue has been fixed."
Guys i did it, chill out skill issue has been resolved.
Neo007 Apr 9 @ 6:26am
know this is neccro but screwed by rng/bug on my first full try think it was third try managed to clear the whole map but the boss didnt spawn... or at least I think a scorpion spawned who I killed didnt even realize it was supposed to be a boss maybe it was regular version....in anycase game didnt recognize it as win, visited each boss spawn location 2-3 times to make sure and then just left. Had to look up map just to make sure I didnt make a mistake too.... Beat it recently but still that was some bad rng bug/business.

i just did it a while ago.
it's weird, because the first time i tried it, my team got one shotted by the first random encounter.

but this time, it was just small groups of easy sahuagins and i found the boss in the first place i looked.

there is quite a bit of RNG here.

i still have mostly +5 gear and my weapons are between +7 to +10.
MC has a +10 steel sword.
lana has +7 steel sword.
olive has +5 dagger of soil.

all my armors are +5 or above. Mc has a +13 steel armor, lana has +12 ornate leather. I probably should swap those, because lana has lower defense than mc, but i want MC to have high defense.

i finally learned how to properly use the defend command to create opening status on enemies and it helps a lot to conserve resources.

boss was a scorpion lady from b5, but much stronger. I used the same strategy, defend with the character she is targeting
i was using debuffs with the mage, dilto and balafeos.
front line was spamming stun bash and heavy strike, with armor break to keep defense down on the boss.
healer kept getting feared. lthe boss kept targeting the column with the healer, but i had a bunch of potions on her.

we just barely won with everyone alive.

i spent so long stuck at level 30, everyone alreayd had 2 million xp and we immediately jumped to level 40.
i notice the game is getting easier now. I was afraid to unlock the level 40, because i thought the enemies would level up, but they seem like they stayed the same. Maybe it's only that red dragon from the event that scales to the player.

I don't know if any of this is helpful to anyone. i'll show myself out.
