Nothing running in the background and Error [1002]

Edit. Reinstalling the game a couple of times fixed it, but now I've gotta figure out how to change the directory for ingame download.

Yeah was playing fine for an hour or two then the game froze while talking to an NPC in the abyss, getting Error 1002 ever since

Hrrm. Yeah getting hit by this too. My phone is decidedly way better than my computer as a device, though. It just released, I'm sure it'll get patched.

I've been trying to get past the Security Policy error but nothing seems to work. I really hope a patch can come soon or at least some official guidance on how to resolve it.

Yeah I got the same thing an I had nothing running in the background either, hope they fix this soon.

right click on your steam app >properties > compatibility > run this program as an administrator

I randomly get this error sometimes on startup as well, then I try again without changing anything and it works.

Suddenly had this issue after playing on my 3rd day. Turning off steam overlay fixed it, but unsure why that became the issue.

I started experiencing error 1002 and I found for some reason my solution was literally alt tabbing as soon as gameguard pops up. If I had to guess in my instance, gameguard was trying to load properly at the same time as Wizardry causing some kind of hiccup leading to it assuming I had a security violation as loading both seemed to make the game chug long enough to upset gameguard. IDK why this worked tbh but it did.
