Now, there might be technical issues as just getting it to run properly on new systems. Since the devs haven't answered I would say beware that it might not work. :(
I might buy this on Steam because it does not have Starforce anymore according to the developers. But if my memory serves me correct even the latest 1.7 (?) patch left some issues that could cause you to get stuck. From what I've gathered this is patched to that same version.
If this is nothing more than just a re-release because they got the publishing rights back I'm probably not going to rebuy this on Steam because I have it on disc.
If you don't own this game yet it's a good buy.
I spent probably over 50h in this back in the day.
Just don't try to compare it to XCOM:EU/EW. You'll just dissapoint yourself. Enjoy this 2007 title for what it is, and you'll have a good time.
Granted I hated the "zombies" and the story to death in the first two games... but the story controlled soldier rooster and the weird territory control mechanic was not to my taste. Found the "vision modes" to be a dissapointment as well.
Personally I'm looking forward to Xenonauts to feed my X-com94 addiction ^^
Can definitely recommend it if you're looking for a 'old' XCOM vibe but want something
that runs on new systems and is still supported.
They are all very good games on their own. I really don't think you can compare them or should compare them (Okey maybe Shock and Light could be). They all have their ups and downs.
Offtopic: Gorlom and Vincent- THANK YOU for mentioning Xenonauts. <3
They did, it's called Aftershock...
I will, however, point out one downside to the game. The end-game stages are rather weak. A couple badly-designed enemies and a lackluster leadup to the final mission, which itself wasn't much to write home about. Modders fixed the enemy (sort of) but I haven't played it in ages and I have no idea if anyone has attempted to do anything more with the late-game missions. But everything up to that point was really good. And it wasn't like the ending was Origional-ME3-Bad, per se. Just uninspired.
There's a lot better games out there at a similar price so I'd wait for a 75% sale on this.
