UFO: Afterlight

Need help installing mods
I did google for answers, but it either linked me to the mod download, with no instructions in sight, or it linked me to a page whose server long since shut down.

I DID see something about dumping it the main directory, but it seems a bit weird when I try to play it, where the mod(s) either didn't work, or had weird errors in their research portions.

Only mod I've gotten to work is the "No Advisor Talk" mod, which was a godsend. I did try to use the "less agressive factions" mod, but no go there. I used that mostly since the constant attacks are more annoying than challenging. The Total Rebalance mod is the one that has the weird errors in the research screen and stuff.

So can anyone give me some basic instructions, or maybe a link to proper instructions? Thanks in advanced!

Nevermind. I at least figured out what I was doing wrong with the Total Rebalance Mod. I just assumed "dump all vfs files in the main directory", but I was supposed to put the localization file in the localization folder, obvious in hindsight, but there you go.

I gave up with getting the "Less Agressive Faction" mod to work. It wasn't a big deal to begin with, just a minor annoyance, but it seems that the Total Rebalance Mod tinkered with the agressiveness anyway, so its far less annoying now, though I wish production times weren't so slow. :p

I haven't tested the "No Advisor Talk" mod yet, but I don't think it'll conflict. Those guys are seriously annoying.

ya mods scare me to i tried to do a few on other games and i always have to download something and it freaks out my PC, i am sure i am messing out on my end just sucks

i added 'less aggressive factions, more UFO capacity, character changes mod (that i made myself lol wanted ute to be a technician and diego a low level scientist), longer view range & custom weapon and armor configurations (lasers more accurate, all weapons 2x range)' to total rebalance mod. add us on steam and ill add whatever you want to a clean version of total rebalance and then upload the link to dropbox, or i can teach you how to do it yourself (and upload any utilities hard to find)

Haha, I had figured it all out not long after posting this topic. Though I'm interested in the 'More UFO Capacity' Mod now. Is that capacity for Troops or for items?

I use the Total Rebalance Mod(minus Martian Assault), No Adviser Talk, and I think the Less Aggressive Factions mod. I say 'I think' because even though I've put everything in the right place, I haven't noticed much of a difference. Well, I'm not sure. At the time I had also installed the Martian Assault Mod when I had no clue what it did, and they mod(at full blast settings) more than likely altered my perception.

Since then I've been busy with a lot of games, like NEO Scavenger now that it has mod support, and I've been meaning to come back to this one, which I probably will very soon.

i'd go without the aggression mod with total rebalance hah. or, go to the game\configs\strategic\maps\factions.txt section of your vfs mod (or extract it from the original gamedata as i don't think it's part of total rebalance) and you will see "aggresiveness FLT #.#", under "isinteligent BOOL T/F" - it probably does make a big difference. i barely noticed the difference too tho.
be careful when editing total rebalance mod - it can be problematic overriding the existing files within the total-rebalance VFS with other mods which change similar files - you'd be much better off manually adding the kind of changes that the other desired mods have done into the TotalRebalance's .txts, if that makes sense, as you may override one of the rebalance edits with a vanilla setting.
but if the file Isn't in total rebalance already, as in, you need to extract it from gamedata or from another mod download - you should be alright..
