Cropped screen resolution fix on Win10
For those who experience a shifted\cropped screen on Windows 10 (left part of the screen is black, while right one is cut off) - I just found a solution.

1) Open the properties of the UFO.exe in the game folder.
2) Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
3) Press "Change high DPI settings"
4) Tick both boxes.
5) Choose "Application start" in the first menu and "Application" in the second.

Somehow this helped for me. No other solutions did.

If your DPI is set above 100% then windows will enlarge any window which UFO Afterlight asks for. If DPI is set to 150% and UFO asks for a 1024 wide window, then it will get a 1536 wide window instead. UFO Afterlight was made before high DPI was common (Its mostly on Modern Laptops. Desktops generally don't have it set to anything other than 100%).

Disabling DPI on an app in the Compatiblity settings fixes the issue for any game which doesn't support DPI above or below "100%".

What works for me is right clicking on my desktop and opening "Display Settings" then change size of text back down to 100%

Right click on the game in the steam library. Goto Properties and then Local Files. Then hit the browse button.

If you continue to have trouble but the above fixes had helped, you may have to manually set your monitor resolution.

1) Open your latest game profile under the following path. "\UFO Afterlight\Profiles"
2) Open the "Option.cfg".
3) Change the values associated "resolution_x" and "resolution_y" to your desired resolution and ensure your display is using the same values.

You may have to redo whenever changing to a monitor with a lower resolution.

These steps from the original post totally fixed the problem for me and I don't have to go into Windows Display settings and reduce DPI down to 100% anymore. Amazing!

1) Open the properties of the UFO.exe in the game folder.
2) Go to the "Compatibility" tab.
3) Press "Change high DPI settings"
4) Tick both boxes.
5) Choose "Application start" in the first menu and "Application" in the second.
