1. Shoot Andrew in the Chapter 2 vision
2. Find the engagement ring in the forest - there's a point when you're sliding rocks around that there are two paths, and one of them leads to a dead end where you pick up an engagement ring
3. Right before deadest of dead, Andrew finds the same ring on the floor, and you chose whether to discard it or keep it.
Keeping it avoids Deadest of Dead and leads to Shots and Such - I think there might be more variations that I just don't know about but that's how my playthrough went
Thank you! I didn't actually find any rings. But if both options lead to bad ends, then did we made a mistake even before that?
I wouldn't say that Shots and Such is a "Mistake" but it's one way that the two of them can survive, despite how bleak and horrible it seems to be
From having done more playing I'm confident that the branching moment for the story is choosing to shoot Andrew or not in the Decay vision in Chapter 2.
If Andrew gets shot, then the sequence after the entity gives you a portal changes dramatically and the story changes from there.
Regarding growing a spine I think that refers to the Andy ending, which is a branching moment from when you choose to be Andy or Andrew. I haven't played through an Andy decision yet
Heavy spolier, obviously
in chapter 2 :
- don't mag dump the killer in the parc
- Follow decay route normally ( Ashley don't trust Andrew alone with their parents)
- in the dream, have Ashley shoot Andrew. it's important to give her PTSD so she doesn't pull the trigger when the times comes to
In chapter 3 :
- find the ring in the first part of the forest (when you get away from the cops. It's on a section where you have to push rocks away from a path between trees instead of following some footprints)
- Don't agree to be called Andy when she threaten you
- Don't leave a whitness in the forest ( not sure about that one )
- chase her in the world-between, but when she is in a dead end, don't try to catch her. She'll pull her gun on you, you'll call for bluff, and has she got traumatised from killing Andrew in her dream, she won't shoot.
- Aside from joke screw up endings, you're pretty set foward by that point.
- Just take back the gun after.... dubious actions... and go eat breakfirst. I didn't steal the trinket, IDK if that matters
- Grab the ring on your path (you'll step on it by the fridge)
- When comes the choice of cleaver or gun, andrew will add the ring in the choice. Guess where the randomness lands =p
....
Alabama ending I guess lol
Killing the witness had no impact on that ending specifically, at least during my run anyways.
in my first playthrough I didn't get the ring and got to the ending where they jumped out of the window together, in my second playthrough I got the ring and grabbed it in the kitchen and got the alabama ending. If I get the ring but throw it away is it a different ending or just the same one that I first got?
