release date?

im wondering if the release date of 2024 is meant to imply early 2024 mid 2024 late 2024 or if that is undetermined. when i first read it my mind went to early 2024

It's one of those things where it's like "we get there when we get there". Them saying it's 2024 just means it's expected to be done this year. The last status report we got on Episode 3 was in August or September where 3a was 10% there and has likely been worked on a lot since, so take that as a frame of reference as to how far along they are.

Probably still TBD, but since 3a and 3b are planned for separate releases there should hopefully be news about one's release before too long.

Wait, are they really? I would have thought they would be released simultaneously. It would feel a bit weird to have one ending complete but not the other for a while.

Yup. From the Early Access section of the store page:

“Early Access allows the episodes to be released as they become available, while still being one app with one price. This is largely a story driven game, though there are some game-play elements that could benefit from early player feedback.”
“The game will exit Early Access somewhere in 2024.
Major content updates will be far apart. Each episode takes months to complete, so the majority of updates will be bug and issue fixing patches.”
“The price will increase slightly with each major update.”

If we take into account the time difference between the release of the demo version of the game and the second episode (7 months), then perhaps episode 3 will be released in May
