What should be the true ending in episode two?
Any opinions? Also happy new year by the way

Well, I think everybody wants it to be burial. It has the incest which everybody seems to love and the version of burial without it is objectively the best ending; the siblings don't hate each other without making it sus.

I'd say decay. I think that the decay route is very underappreciated and I think it it'd be the most realistic outcome.

I kind of don't want there to be a true ending so everyone can enjoy the ending that they most enjoy. Multiple endings do present a kind of lose-lose situation, where either one feels more "natural" or "real" than the others from it being stated to be the true ending, or fans argue about which is the real ending if there wasn't ever stated to be one.

With all of the hints of Andy's romantic inclinations towards her, I don't think so.

Though I suppose the double suicide in decay still implies it.

Personally I think the Burial route would make the most sense as the canonical ending and it's not because of the option you're all thinking. It's the fact that despite everything they seem the most happy and at peace with themselves at least in that moment. To quote Terminator 2 "In an insane world, it was the sanest choice"

I don't think either is more or less realistic than the other, honestly. As mentioned by duhu, Andrew's certainly got a lot of odd, romantic feelings mixed in regardless of the route. The real difference between these routes is whether or not they both choose to trust each other, and given their circumstances, either is just as realistic than the other.

That's what I loved about the choices that split the routes, honestly; it comes down less to what the characters "would" do, and instead more to how the player, throughout the game so far, has personally contextualized and understood their dynamic.

I don't think we need to know the "canon" ending because of this. Each will be unique, yet still make sense for the characters themselves. But if one of them does get confirmed as the canon ending, I'll be very interested to see which is!

At the very least, I certainly agree the burial ending, specifically the questionable route, is likely to be the "happiest" ending. Not because "haha funny incest game," but because Andrew and Ashley are objectively happiest at the end of chapter 2 in this route. Even in the "sane" ending, much of their playful and affectionate interaction is cut. In the questionable route, they not only trust each other, but Andrew starts really accepting his feelings for Ashley, and I think this acceptance plays a huge role in how his treatment towards her becomes more positive. He no longer has reason to try to keep appearances or pretend to be normal.

how about a henry stickman type system, whatever ending you got determines how the game goes on

That'd be sick but that can't happen unless Chapter 1 got alternate endings or more chapters beyond 3a/3b were planned.

as in, decay and burial have seperate chapters for the most part
Andrew isnt like Ashley in behaviour. he was forced to do all of this. realistic ending is ashley trusting andrew and andrew accepting his parent's offer.. (decay)
BUT THE CROWD INCLUDING ME WANT BURIAL YESSS

I don't know, there are hints that Andrew is just as bad as Ashley, but he is in denial about it. For instance, whenever he kills someone or causes their death, his reaction is always "Oh no! What if I get caught?" And not "My god! What have I done!" He hasn't shown a lot of empathy for the people whose deaths he caused.

The siblings walk happily into the sunset while holding hands and smiling.

The End.

I think it would be fun to have an ending where they wind up sacrificing a bunch of people to turn back time and NG+. Maybe one of them dies and the other makes a deal with the demon.
