Trying to use light gun

I have the aimtrak gun but I can't get it to work for this game. Can someone who has gotten this to work with the gun help me out?

I have the gun in "mouse" mode, it controls the mouse fine outside the game, but it does not move the cursor in game. It registers a mouse click when I pull the trigger but that's it. I can't find any "settings" screen to adjust the input beyond the settings modal you get before the game opens. The whole reason I bought the game was for the gun so this is frustrating. I'm confident the gun itself is installed correctly as I can use it in Blue Estate on Steam and also in Mame.
