Trick or Treat achievement doesn't unlock?
I've beat the game on Normal today and the achievement didn't unlock. Is it broken?

Did you beat all the stages? after you beat tutorial and 8 stages, it unlock the LJN stage, you need to beat the boss of that stage.

So, I was following a guide that says the achievement can unlock using the "best ever code", but turns out that didn't work, I started the game from scratch till the end and the achievement popped up as soon as I beated the final boss.

o,.o whats possible is that you used a cheatcode which those tend to disable achivements for that run.

glad you were able to rerun and get the achivement :halloweener:

The achievement doesn't unlock when using cheat codes.
Even outside of the Halloween event, the game won't let you progress to a higher difficulty if you beat the final boss when a cheat code is active. I tried beating the final boss with the MegaScope once, you will see the ending but it didn't unlock the 'You call this normal' achievement.
However you can play through all the of the 'regular' stages whenever you want (in normal mode) and finish the final boss when the Halloween patch has been applied, this will unlock the Trick or Treat achievement.
At least this worked for me, i must have lost 400+ lives on the LJN level alone :)

Yeah well that final boss got me every time, i ended up having to grind the extra lives in the Haunted House level and then after MANY tries i finally beat his pattern. The irritable bowel syndrome part was the worst...

@_@ yeah i agree he was damned tough, i cant recall how many times took me to beat him was deff few, i should sometime check my total lifes stat on the 3ds ver x.x

but hey atleast it lives upto classic like platformers at being damned tough.

since many games these days they tone down to make them easier in hopes of selling more...

ever played escape goat? if i recall that was pretty tough also x.x

atm rerunning pc ver on normal, and finished all levels mostly hit the haunted level and by time i hit the end not enough lifes left to workout a good strategy so back to beginning for me lol.

which stinks as 3ds ver never had to redo levels really if i recall x.x

Never played Escape Goat, I do have Stigmat which is another one of those insane platformers, although much simpler in design than this one. AVGN Adventures is such a blast! I might try some of the higher difficulties too in the future, but will probably stop after 'Hard as Balls'.

Anyway there's a guide on how to farm extra lives (credit to the author): http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=180607447
after doing what's shown in the video, you can drop to your left, continue left and climb up the ladder to get an extra life. Then quit the level and repeat...

yeah i dont think ive ever farmed lifes in games before.
escape goats like a tough puzzle platformer x.x

ive actually tried farming the level with the unicorn, few jumps and bam 1up then repeat lol.
which began that today, yet normally i dont need the extra lifes, as bosses are the toughest bit for me.

the haunted level wise ate bit lifes earlier as was tired and not doing my best.
well plus its one of the hardest levels, and twin bosses gah...

which ran thru few levels with around 6x lifes left, beat the bosses thankfully with not much trouble, as none likes to full rerun a level after reaching a boss lol.

ive yet to try the higher difficulties, as main ive done was easy and norm.
but thankfully beating the 3ds ver awhile back gave me some practice into the game which makes replaying it easier, well other then boss wise @.@
