TRIBE NINE

Do you think this game will survive long enough to tell a full story?
I like the game but honestly Gacha is a vicious market to compete in.
And while i don't know the official mobile player numbers on steam its like 1000 concurrent players at best and who knows how many of them even spent a cent on the game.
And i don't want to get to invested in the game only for it to shut down midway thru the story.
Its also one of the reasons why i wish this game was a Pay to play title whit a full story for like 60$ that has less grind and mobile daily BS.
Hell it could have even bean 2 part game so they can sell it 2X 60 kinda like what FFVII remake is doing if there was enough content.

Sure why not, I like being optimistic. There's people who record the story in case you ever want to follow the story without playing.

Honestly i care more about a complete story. Than just a story.
And i am worried this game may not survive a 1-2 years.

That's the thing though Gachas NEVER complete their story. They keep going until EoS where they just wrap everything.
Sure in 1 - 2 years there might be arcs that finished or a part 1 or 2 sections of the story, but it's never going to end as long as it gets revenue.

The story would ever complete if it eos.

director has said the game will keep going as long as it can, the story will never end
I'm not too worried, the director said the current plan is to create 23 cities.

The cities in Neo Tokyo are inspired by the “23 wards” of real Tokyo. So, we’ll be focusing on creating the 23 cities for now.

That seams ambitious but ambitions cost money.
And i don't know if this game is making them money.
Considering its free and it does not have stellar player numbers
I hope it does survive for a couple of years at least. But judging by the player count, I'm not very hopeful. I think they need to do more advertising and sponsorships.
I hope so, I'm also worried about it. I'm a huge Danganronpa/Rain Code fan and I would invest more in Tribe Nine if I could, but even then it could not be enough to keep them going :crying_yeti:
I think it depends on The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy doing well. So far, Kodaka has been hard advertising only the latter. The last time he even talked about Tribe Nine was when he mentioned there was a game in development.

So there's a large chance that he needs The Hundred Line to do well in general for their studio to survive. I'm sure Tribe Nine is doing fine, but the studio took a risk and went into debt for The Hundred Line. lol

Yes, but it makes sense for Kodaka to be only hard advertising Hundred Line, since unfortunately he's just remotely involved with the production of Tribe Nine.

Tribe Nine seems to be co-developed by Akatsuki Games and Too Kyo Games

Kodaka says he doesn't write the story, they do the character design and music. [bsky.app]

Actual development and maintenance wise it seems to be a Akatsuki Games project. The game director is also from Akatsuki Games. My speculation is that Tribe Nine's success matters more to Akatsuki. This would explain why Kodaka doesn't promote Tribe Nine.

Pocket Tactics: Originally, many fans thought that Tribe Nine was from the developers of the Danganronpa games, and that Mr. Kazutaka Kodaka was heavily involved in the development. However, we’ve since heard that it’s mostly an Akatsuki Games project, and that Too Kyo Games had less involvement than we originally thought.

How much involvement did Too Kyo Games and Kodaka actually have in the process, and how did you go about encapsulating the spirit of both the Tribe Nine series and Kodaka’s works so perfectly through the story and world?

Yasutaka Soejima: When it comes to game development, Too Kyo Games is in charge of the original character design and the BGM.

As for Mr. Kodaka, his involvement differs slightly from his role in the anime adaptation. In the game’s development, he collaborated with Akatsuki Games to develop the main storyline’s initial plot. We then took that foundation and continued the development at Akatsuki Games.

A good example of this process is the reveal of the NUMBERS’ true identity in Chapter 2. This plot point was established early on during the initial plotting sessions with Mr. Kodaka and Akatsuki Games.

We’ve built upon such core concepts then shaped them to work effectively within a live service model, ensuring an engaging experience for our players.

I think you worded it perfectly.

T9's future depends on Akatsuki Games, which has other successful titles that can support T9 for a few years. Maybe T9 will be a sleeper hit, maybe it'll fade off after a half dozen districts, but it seems much cheaper to produce than most gacha so it'll probably stick around for a while. Its true that TooKyo may sink or swim based on HL; their finances are exclusive to Akatsuki. HL could flop and T9 would still probably be around in a year.

I'd rather remain optimistic as well having read another comment here. I don't know much about the developer for this game other than I remember playing other games from Akastuki in the past. When I first found this game I thought it was something too good to be true. A game that is free to play with a trailer that looks bad ass? Hells yeah! And then I loaded up the game for the first time and I'm sure we were all confused in the beginning until we got to meet Tsuki and the gang. My opinion on this game is extremely positive. I hold out hope for T9 that it will be continued until the end. It has been a long time since I've been as obsessed with a game as I have been with this one. I cannot wait for the update on the 16th.

I got hope. Game is good and the devs seem invested, they just need to figure out their groove when it comes to advertising- especially because they spent a lot on advertising when the game was new had some genuine issues. They're fixed now, but it's convincing people to try the game again after they've already left it that's hard.

Part of that can come from the community; actual players saying "the game is much better now" and "here's what I like about it" has more weight for a player that was scared away by the gacha rates or difficulty level than them running a trailer in a Youtube ad.

Hopefully Ch 3 brings in more people, but I think activity will still be slowed down by HL which has a similar audience.
If HL is successful, though, once people have played through it they may be in the market for a game with similar vibes and might try out Tribe Nine, especially because the fandoms have a lot of overlap. Especially if the fan base suggests it.

That said, all games come to an end eventually, and I'll be sad when this game ends whether or not the story is complete. The journey to get to the end is the good part of the story anyways, so I'm just enjoying it for what it is regardless of what happens.

For now I'm just enjoying it for what it is and doing the best to support the game by participating in the community and supporting content creators. There's a lot of people on the r/TribeNine subreddit putting out an effort to support the game too.
This is japan. They can make a "complete story" at any given time because the initial plot has already been done (this's confirmed by interview) if the game comes to sudden end, the plot will be cut short and go straight to final chapter regardless of how many loose end there are.

It's not uncommon either, so many unpopular novel and manga faced this for countless time and they're forced to end their story in any way possible.
