I can't beat the shark
I've tried so many times and I cannot beat it. I was enjoying the game but I don't think I can progress any further :(

Shark is certainly the first true hurdle in the game imo but which aspect is causing you difficulties? if the bombs the general idea is to to get him to swallow it.
S.H.A.R.K. is easy when you get the hang of its moves and get comfortable with the parrying mechanic:

  • Charge - you can sidestep this one; parrying (although the timing is tricky) would prove fruitful since it stops the boss in its tracks and gives you a hefty opening (definitely recommending Tsuki, Tsuruko, Q since they pull off ez counters against this type of attack)
  • Tail spin - another move you can easily parry, but if you're not feeling like it or are unable to do so, get to its side - the damage will only affect those in front of it, regardless if it spins the tail in 360 degrees
  • Triple chomp - an unpredictable move, but thankfully, one that doesn't give you much damage; if you get chomped the first time, it's definitely going to chomp you the second time as well - third time is the charm and that's when you have to parry it (side stepping is harder since it homes in on you)
  • Minefield - simply stand in front of/behind the mine and make it swallow it; when it does, go to town on its malfunctioning body
  • Water laser - once it bolts away from you towards the border of the arena, it will always spin in a clockwise manner; you must either go counter-clockwise or run towards the laser and evade through it (which is recommended since you can perform strategy/secondary moves that take a lot of time to set up)
  • Spin #1 - the first variation isn't hard since it gives you plenty of space in the middle to fight the boss; you don't need to step outside and venture into the border to fight amongst the rings, just stay in the middle
  • Spin #2 - the second variation might look tricky, but it's not; don't parry the boss since you have nothing to gain from it and keep running (while occasionally switching lanes) in one direction until tornado subsides
  • Emerging from the ground - the most annoying move of them all, since it just prolongs the boss fight; to counter this, keep running like a headless chicken until the warning pops up, and evade when you see a white crosshair appear on the ground. After that, just keep running until it slams back into the ground.

Also to be noted : It's main attacks always hit in front of it.

IF you have a tank as AI you can attack it mostly from behind, the only attacks that target you instead of the AI are the 'Danger' moves.

Tho in case of the red limit series shark return, i wouldn't try to get overly familiar with this.. cause some of those moves hit behind it too iirc.

let it swallow a mine to stun it and create a safe space.
stick to its back (you are completely safe from all its attacks there).
during its dive attack, start dodging when you see the warning sign and the circle on the ground, or use roku skill to just facetank it (this is honestly an answer to everything if you are having trouble).
parrying is very important, amps up your damage alot, and more importantly you get tension.
during is tornado attack thing, just focus on dodging the rings, and keep moving to dodge its dash

roku saigo is free btw, just spam his guard and let your teammates do the damage, also bring healer. ez win.
Shark is the first enemy in the game I've had trouble with too. Unfortunately since I encountered it my game is lagging 100% of the time. I've tried a few things but can't figure out how to get rid of it. I'll have to wait to even practice on the Shark unfortunately.
Needed 4 or 5 attempts for it to learn the patterns and was mostly comfortable with a ranged char like Yutaka Gotanda. The only annoying parts for me where the ones with the water twister in the middle and the attack from underground as it feels like you only have a nanosecond to dodge it as the warning symbol appears sooner then the actual attack and so messed my dodge up a plenty of times.

Aside from that Shark more relies on evade and team attacks along with the burst moves where Tsuki Iroha can deal a ton of damage (nearly 1 1/2 bar with her burst attack when it hits so it´s best to be used when Shark is either be stunned by one of the mines or during his water laser attack.

Yo for DPS. Roku to tank. Yo builds Tension and ults like nobody's business. Someone already mentioned Roku tanks super well.

With all of your tips I was finally able to beat it, thank you everyone!

The water twister was definitely the biggest hassle for me in all my attempts. During those phases I found it best to just be patient, not attack at all and focus on dodging all the nonsense on screen until the phase is over and you get a good opening.

If you're reading this and having trouble with it, know if I can do it you can too!
