Pay 2 win?
I like danganronpa but I ain't touching this game if it has one of those microtransaction that keep exploiting FOMO.

You can play just fine w/o any money. It doesn't have pop-ups and offers left and right.
You can reroll at beginning, pretty easily at that.
The gacha rates will be increased in a few days. (And every currency spend until then will be refunded, while keeping the pulls - so starting now would be recommended)
And ALOT of the farmable cards are very good.. there's no need for the hard to obtain cards.. they just change your play style. It's more a game based on skill.
Everything is doable without spending a penny. You even get the paywalled characters as "guests" to use when you are doing story missions. Gacha aspects basically exists only for those who REALLY want additional characters for end-game grind and XB

It's a game first, gacha second. That's why it was review bombed at the start, gacha community was even mad there isn't story skip button so they can go straight to gambling

It's basically a single player game with a danganronpa-ish story with some danganronpa-like mechanics. I wouldn't really say pay 2 win, there are gacha and battle pass systems but you don't really have to pay anything. You'll only miss out some cosmetics (you might still get those from weekly dungeon boxes, i got 2 unique costumes in a week) and maybe some exclusive tension cards. Battle pass is like $5 or something not too expensive

The main point of the game is the story and you can do it will all the free and guests characters.

I know the gacha aspect can be scary but don't skip the game because of that if you like Danganronpa
It is a gacha game so there will always be some degree of Fomo. That being said at this point in time the story is 100% clearable without needing to get anything specific from the gacha. The game also has a guest system for the story to where can essentially "borrow" characters for the story so in all likelihood will always be able to enjoy the story.
You can't buy stamina to speed up thing when it's non existence in the game.

You can literally farm the Energy called 'Booster' from regular enemies, even more so once you reach the takedown requirement. (Insta kill)

I know. I just answer the OP question of "microtransaction" which I presume he meant "buy to skip" kind of thing.

i'd rather pay to skip some dialogue and the slow group text chat in the story

This game does have limited time events. This game is not pay2win because free units can clear all content, but various gacha pulls can realistically speed up some grinding time. Some live service are very egregious with dark design patterns, but I think this game does things better in that regard based on current gameplay and potential goals.

ultimately and TLDR:
Based on your feelings of FOMO, this game probably isn't for you.

Gonna vouch the opinion of "Zinvue" here.

The game is one of the most F2P based and designed Gacha games you could ever find in the market right now.
Especially the fact, that AI in your team is doing a very great job no matter the character, (except Senju) and the fact, that you can beat the game entirely with all the basic characters you been given at the beginning.

There are so many more points that underline the "F2P" factor of the game and almost no monetization at all, that I'm even a bit feared that the company won't make any money out of their game in the future, lol.

So ngl, if you enjoy Danganronpa, if you like Pokemon and if you love grind and hard challenges, then you 100% gotta play and enjoy this game mate.

In terms of FOMO I gotta disappoint you, because the game is shining especially BECAUSE of the fact, that players can invest 24hours a day to grind however they like.

Kind Regards

it's kind of obvious atp that this game is a passion project and has a philosophy of "if you want to pay for the gacha to support us please do but we just want you to play the game". it's a shame that people apparently are only interested in gambling ... you can easily clear the game with your free characters, in fact You is the best breaker in the game AND heals once you rank him up. there's definitely flaws but if you are a fan of the creators then you will like the game

This passion project almost died on the first day from greed.

Yes and no. It's Japanese culture to know your worth. And this game was worth it even then. Yes there are bigger and "better" looking Chinese gachas but in the end those aren't games or product of passion, just a shell for lonely people or corn addicts
