Which webcam tom buy
Can anyone recommend me a good webcam to buy? I've read that more than resolution it is better to get higher fps so for example 720 at 60 fps is better than 4K at 30 fps. Is that true? I would like to have a good experience with head tracking in MSFS and DCS (flight simulators) and euro/american truck simulators.
Problem with many webcams is sellers dont state how much fps they have. Only few models of webcams accurately specify that they are 720p/60 or 1080/30 for example. I did not see webcam with 90 fps and one webcam from elgato which is I think 1080/60 seems to much expensive for me. I dont need the best solution I'm looking for best solution in terms of quality/money spent a.k.a. performance/money ratio. I dont want to spend 200 bucks on webcam at this price point I can go straight for tobii eye tracker (which is expensive for no reason).

That's correct. If you have to make a choice, prioritize optimizing for higher fps over higher resolution thatn 720p. Before purchasing a webcam, I recommend testing with your mobile phone using the built-in webcam option or an app like Camo. If the performance looks good, pretty much any 60fps webcam available on Amazon (starting around $40-50) should work for you.

I’ll make a note to compile a proper webcam list, and we’ll see if the community (including those on Discord) can pitch in with suggestions since we can’t test every model ourselves. However, we’ve done a lot of work on camera compatibility, so it’s very likely that any webcam you choose will perform just fine.

im thinking on the same lines i think 60-fps webcam would be ideal
I have tried Logitech C270 - 720p @ 30fps and Logitech C922 - 720p @ 60fps and the 60fps is way better to recognize movement than 30fps.
My suggestion goes most definitely for 60 fps cameras.

hi, i have the same question. Is 720p 60FPS enough? or is 1080/60 better? 4k/60fps is to expensive in the moment :steamhappy:

720p 60FPS should be a great value and more than enough for most gamers, especially if the immersion feature is your main target. 1080p 60FPS will be a tiny bit better, especially if you're targeting a slightly higher accuracy, but other than that should be fine with the 720p.

It is hard to get them. Nowadays it is everything about resolution not frames - most of webcams are 4K/30 - if you want "normal" webcam. If you dont want to pay extra for webcam which uses the word "gaming" :D which makes it 100% more expensive. I found some noname brand on amazon for 40-50 bucks they claim it is 1080/60 but usually it is fake marketing based on the reviews I read.
