Beware the claw machines
I've played the claw machines in all the games and I have to say I am very good when you can get side views of the tank. But the claw machines in this game suffer from "muscle spasms". Once I had a machine's claw open again while the item was lifted. Another time the claws closed at an uneven rate, propelling the item off to the side. Player beware.

what framerate are you playing at?
I've said it many times and I will say it again: Crane Game cranes are built specifically to drop your toy even with the best of grips. The cranes here are just "fine" like the real-life ones; it's the ones from older instalments that "cheat" in your favor. Player beware indeed.

If a toy is hard to claw its best to grab them in a way so you can slowly start moving them to the drop of point.

Getting that one figurine in the hexagonal box was pure torture

that seemed like the easiest to me cause the claw would perfectly fit under the edges

I did the minigame section to full in the completion list and the claw machine seemed to grab some items like the octopus and the figurine boxes flawlessly, while some were not moved at all like the big birds. But I know it's meant to grab them poorly.

Stuff like the Octuopus, Teddies and the cats are the easiest because they are quite round so the claw can get a good grip and they wont tip as easy.
Under necks and ears is a great place to grab. Using the side view you can better aim. any toy behind the drop can be inched forward by clawing behind the center point. If you need to move the toy to the side, drop the claw just to the side of center in the direction you want. when the claw closes, it will center the toy, thus moving it a little to the side. just some ideas that worked for me.

If they're near the drop hole, you can also just tip them.
