Is this one in english?
I doesn't say it is on the store page but I know 7 is and 8 is going to be now that they have an english voice actor for Kiryu. I was just wondering because it seems kinda wasteful to hire a voice actor for 1 game. If it's not in english is there any news on whether or not it will get an english update?

that excuse of a person you mentioned should at most be an npc, not go anywhere near important character voicing, and if you want consistency, bring the yakuza 7 english kiryu wich voiced him in yakuza 1 and 2.
Yeah, I agree with you that he doesn't fit the character. I feel that Sega didn't use Darryl Hughes Kurylo because of the backlash from that even though I think he sounds good enough. Yeah, it's not perfect but that guy sounds like a much better Kiryu than Yong Yea does. I really hope they get Kurylo to redo it later or at least get him to do english dubs for the rest of them now that it seems like the series is getting popular finally.

Personally, I think it's pretty obvious that the reason they substituted Kurylo is because the Western team has been on an influencer kick for years now, and flatly failed to understand that throwing darts at Youtube stops being a modestly dumb idea the moment one believes that's going to work for the most important voice in the entire franchise. Rudimentary due diligence should have disqualified YongYea immediately for his troubled history, but the Western team has never cared about that. They still should have hit the brakes the moment it was clear that YongYea was a poor fit, also couldn't act, and also couldn't sing. They should have used his "I earned Kiryu" drama as an excuse to dropkick him. They're clearly invested in making this work, paying customers be da--ed.

To be sure, assuming there are future roles for Kiryu, SEGA would be hopelessly tonedeaf if they allowed YongYea to stay on board for that. Meanwhile, you can bet modders will do their best to solve the YongYea problem in Infinite Wealth. I'm a fan of this generated AI demonstration, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-h6jPfe2NxI

Note that this isn't the same as taking YongYea's dialogue and substituting it with AI. This is generated AI. Know what's conspicuous about this performance? They're better takes than YongYea's. Go ahead and compare. Sure, that's not a high bar, but it says a heck of a lot that you can just feed text to an AI trained on Kuroda's voice and you not only get a perfect voice but better acting to boot. Obviously this is likely to fall apart when it comes to singing or legitimate emotion, but I'll absolutely take this over YongYea.

I've said it before but I'm going to say it here again because I feel like being a prophet: If you think the dissatisfaction over YongYea voicing Kiryu is loud and clear right now, just wait until he gets asked to handle Gaiden's ending. The only way they're going to be able to salvage that is by using an AI to somehow replace the majority of Kuroda's performance with YongYea's voice. Otherwise, yeah, it's going to really underscore what a terrible decision the Western team made and SEGA casually signed off on.

I also feel like 8 is going to be the last full game with Kiryu in it. However if they for some reason decided to go back and and update Zero, Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2 and 6 with an english dub and then do kiwami remakes of 3-5 with english dubs I would want them to do it with Kurylo.

I really feel like an AI voice program could do way better than this.

If they update dub to a robotic voice instead of a whiny youtuber, I'll instantly buy this game.
