When a game has 99.9% of certain visuals and . 1% of a different types of visual.......................... than the .1% is jarring, regardless of which character it is. It could be Kiryu and it would still be weird.

People really comparing apples and pears in this thread. First of all, yes the real life footage thing has been done before, but it wasn't so in your face, up close and personal to the point it's awkward (and don't give me that bs gaslighting about not interacting with real life women, it's not even close to that no matter how realistic they make it, if only it shows how you don't actually talk to real women and think this is exactly the same).
Secondly, in other games it was either creepy tv p0rn (which I doubt anyone watched unironically) or some funny mini-game that was enjoyed for the humour, not for the actual interactions.
And thirdly, the videos were not a third of the total game size in other games (I know mods fix this, but it should not be expected of modders to fix everything).

Overall, I don't mind them, but people are 100% justified to complain about this and saying the can't or shouldn't is only an attempt at censorship.

I think that every Yakuza game except for 7 has some soft-core p0rn, so it shouldn't be a surprise. You are free to dislike it but saying that it should be removed entirely is censorship IMHO.
When I first saw the real life render I was a little shocked because I didn't expect it but afterwards it was no big deal. That being said I only completed the first hostess in sotenbori (Kei IIRC) and the reward for getting the 3 hearts is cringy but as I said, you are free to like it or hate it.

Yeah, before 6 the hostesses felt like characters in-universe interacting with Kiryu/Saejima/etc, with their ingame 3d models.

Since 6, the hostesses just feel like actresses directly adressing the lonely male player telling him that he's mad sexy and deep. It's no longer about the character that you control, it's about you.

Really don't like it. Wish they'd go back to the old system, if they wanna do that again in the future.

Maybe the first reaction to that was weird yeah, but I got used to it quickly. My problem is when there is as horrible hostess as Ai who only cares about looks and money. I wouldn't date her no matter how much I was paid to. I only got the achievements bc I pressed buttons and didn't look at the screen with her. The others were at least decent.

These clubs are an oddity outside of Japan, so adding this kind of element that people aren't familiar with is sure to make some feel strange. Personally I got over it soon enough and had fun before long.

Some of the series' cabaret clubs were incredibly tedious and laborious and this solves that while being shorter and far less repetitive. I didn't need a list telling me what minigames to play, "check the vibe" before starting shifts, or change my equipment every time before entering. All of that plus more tedium just to complete a substory so I can fight Amon. I get that it's heavily suggestive but that's nothing new. Judgement probably struck the best balance here.

Also I like that it helps the girls too. They held an audition. I knew about Kson but I followed the trend of watching Kokoro watching herself in-game and it was pretty wholesome. RGG said that they probably won't be doing auditions again. So apart from a few people feeling uncomfortable for this game, I really don't see an issue.
