That being said, what are the chances of seeing a camera at the graveyard, coming to a conclusion Kiryu is watching it and telling a whole life story lmfao
Tbh, I kind of didn't like RGG's decision to bring back Kiryu, but the ending's hints at scenaristic closure for the character, so I changed my mind a little
Definitely worth it and the narrative is at its peak.
100%. I really hope it doesn’t get buried under all the praise for Baldur’s Gate 3’s voice actors. I mean that game was a masterpiece (Astarion’s VA during Cazador’s conclusion broke me), but the acting in this scene was literally some of the best I’ve ever heard regardless of medium.
The part where he sees Haruto’s drawing and shows it to Hanawa… ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it just got me again.
Video games, man.
I have a staggering amount of faults but my refusal to watch trailers is definitely not one of them. I think it’s sad they put that in the trailer. For me, a long time fan who’s played every Yakuza game released in the west, seeing him break down like that was such a shock it really added to the scene. (Please don’t think this is some kind of humblebrag, it’s more a criticism of how marketing can ruin the impact of art by commodifying it)
Also. After watching the ending, my thoughts return to the fact that the English dub was delayed. We all know now what kind of acting chops Yong "I earned Kiryu, even though I've literally only played bit parts my entire short career" Yea actually possesses. I have this mental image of the team reaching this point in the voiceover where, instead of just mouthing dialogue that an AI could easily generate, YongYea actually has to provide emotional heft... and having that epiphany about just exactly what corner they've painted themselves into.
So that was in the trailer?
Is that what the "What were they thinking?" thread here is about? Because yeah... I think we've dethroned that time the Terminator 2 trailer featured Arnie saying, "Come with me if you want to live."
