This is probably the saddest I have ever been in a Yakuza game, which is saying a lot considering how many heavy emotional moments this series churns out. Kiryu crying at the end of this game might actually be Takaya Kuroda's best work IMO, surpassing his performance with Rikiya's death in Yakuza 3. I just couldn't stop crying at the end of this game and I cannot wait to get my hands on Infinite Wealth.

Been playing games for almost two decades, only cried three times; at the ending of Telltale's TWD and TWD Season 4, and this game being the third.

Dude broke down after so long, had to let it all out.

That being said, what are the chances of seeing a camera at the graveyard, coming to a conclusion Kiryu is watching it and telling a whole life story lmfao

Yes, I did, but not really like a baby. I didn't expect such ending. The whoile game was rad.

I cried like a baby when the camera scene rolled out, and then the drawing. I just couldn't hold it in. Man, what an absolute feelsbomb.

We all knew the scene of Kiryu sobbing was coming, but I absolutely did not expect that to be the reason why. Absolutely incredible performance and so rewarding to people who've followed Kiryu's story across all the games.

loved it, so sad but also finally a conclusion.

As he started the video I was like "huh I'm probably not gonna cry since I've already seen the trailer and know he cries like a baby here" but seeing just how much he broke down... He's never cried like that man. Incredible acting you really got the feeling that he misses them so much. Kazuma Kiryu is the best video game character and nothing will ever change my mind on that.

After all the guy has been through, he deserves to be able to live a quiet life with them.

Yeah
Tbh, I kind of didn't like RGG's decision to bring back Kiryu, but the ending's hints at scenaristic closure for the character, so I changed my mind a little

Streaming the ending I had to be very strong not to break out in tears, but some passed through. Must have been rain.

Manly tears are shed and its been a while since a Game made me like this.
Definitely worth it and the narrative is at its peak.

100%. I really hope it doesn’t get buried under all the praise for Baldur’s Gate 3’s voice actors. I mean that game was a masterpiece (Astarion’s VA during Cazador’s conclusion broke me), but the acting in this scene was literally some of the best I’ve ever heard regardless of medium.
The part where he sees Haruto’s drawing and shows it to Hanawa… ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ it just got me again.

Video games, man.

I have a staggering amount of faults but my refusal to watch trailers is definitely not one of them. I think it’s sad they put that in the trailer. For me, a long time fan who’s played every Yakuza game released in the west, seeing him break down like that was such a shock it really added to the scene. (Please don’t think this is some kind of humblebrag, it’s more a criticism of how marketing can ruin the impact of art by commodifying it)

It'll be swamped, yeah. Partly because BG3 is such a conspicuous gaming anomaly; partly because this game is obviously not even a AA effort; partly because of the staggering difference in total volume of dialogue... I mean, at the end of the day, you can't really point at another scene in Gaiden where your jaw drops at the acting. It's just not that kind of game. I'll be happy with a nomination, because that will at least indicate that the judges are paying attention.

Also. After watching the ending, my thoughts return to the fact that the English dub was delayed. We all know now what kind of acting chops Yong "I earned Kiryu, even though I've literally only played bit parts my entire short career" Yea actually possesses. I have this mental image of the team reaching this point in the voiceover where, instead of just mouthing dialogue that an AI could easily generate, YongYea actually has to provide emotional heft... and having that epiphany about just exactly what corner they've painted themselves into.

So that was in the trailer?

Is that what the "What were they thinking?" thread here is about? Because yeah... I think we've dethroned that time the Terminator 2 trailer featured Arnie saying, "Come with me if you want to live."
How did you guys get emotionally involved with this? Yakuza games are very badly written with terrible voice acting. It was so bad I now just skip through all dialogue and cutscenes.
