Is there a bigger font option?
I didn't like the previous installments because the font resolution was low, font style was bad, and the size was too small to read.
Does this game have an option for font?

Yes. I'm using it.

One thing I will say about this game: they finally solved the font problem. It's not using a bitmap like past games. It's using geometry, like a real font in a word processor. So playing in 4K and choosing the biggest font possible? Perfectly fine.

There are some signs of growing pains with this approach, though. The aliasing on certain letters (w and y, for example) is kind of harsh. And in certain scenarios, they flat out forgot to antialias at all, such as during the mahjong minigame: https://i.imgur.com/gk9Tyr2.png

I should also point out that special fonts used during minigames are still bitmaps and they are still locked to a 1080p spec, which is a bummer for anyone using something higher.

Thank you.
It seems you know exactly what problems I had in the previous games, and what needs to be done to solve the problem.
I actually decided to quit yakuza games due to small font problems and also how they looked low res or maybe bitmap images like you said.

I wonder why w and y have the problems though.
If the problems are limited to minigames, I wouldn't complain as my main focus is the story mode with dialogues in the chatbox, and cutscenes.

As a person who hasn't played previous games, do you think either Gaiden or 8 could be a good entry point?

Comes down to whatever algorithm they picked to smooth out the edges. The one they picked is a bit sharp. It does make the letters sharp on the whole, but the tradeoff is that flat edges at non-horizontal/vertical angles exhibit more aliasing than is ideal. This is actually where a bitmap solution would have solved everything, so in a way, it's a shame they didn't keep that approach.

If you think you could handle playing literally over half a dozen games and catch up with the story, play 0. If you're 100% positive you'll never do that, play 7. 8 is going to be a sequel to 7 and, considering how character-driven 7 was, 8 is likely to be the least-recommended title to start out with.

Gaiden, meanwhile, has three strikes against it: It's not a mainline game—content wise, it's about half of what other games offer; it more or less depends on the player being familiar with past games to get the most out of it; and it even kinda has spoilers for 7.

I know you seemed eager to play something brand spanking new but there's really not much to be gained and, in these two cases, a lot to lose. Again, if you're sure you'll never be interested in Kiryu's story, just play 7 and be ready for 8. Me? 7 is the reason I've played basically everything now.

Thank you. I think I will just wait until 8 comes out hoping that it's a good entry series.
I tried 7 but I just couldn't deal with the tiny fonts especially when there is tons of stuff to read.
