Saying that, I'm glad you got to enjoy one of your favorite within the LaD universe. Didn't they have D/USA on the Wii?
No, Daytona was never released on Wii :-( Daytona has been ported to tons of systems, but "Daytona 2" has never been ported...until now.
The control is nice too, but I really hope they have sensitivity settings because its really hard to get a fine control with my pad.
Either way, I'm just glad they finally ported this.
Same. I just want it re-released one day like they did with the original Daytona.
Steering sensitivity should be added onto this version since it seems simple enough to include, but with Sega being Sega... it's just not gonna happen.
・"TIME EXTENSION" voice doesn't work properly on Expert or MIX/Challenge track.
That voice should get intense as race progress. But in those 2 tracks, your pit crew chief only say "time extension" in same tone.
・All of 4 player cars has same car sound.
All sounds are same sound as Hornet from original Daytona USA.
Back then, in Daytona USA2 PE, developers actually went to US and recorded actual car sound from actual cars. So, that's the reason, because of licensing ran out? I don't think so.
But regardless, this is very disappointing.
・Mitsuyoshi version songs are removed.
You can access Mitsuyoshi VA version by holding start button at "Gentlemen, start your engines!" part on actual cabinet (Vice versa if cabinet is set to play Mitsuyoshi version). However, this feature is removed.
Another nonsense change to me.
・The Pace-Car model is replaced.
In Daytona USA 2, Pace-Car model is Dodge Viper GTS-R (from Scud Race) with lights. However, this is replaced with same car as Tomahawk one, one of opponent car. They actually edited the model along with new paint!
・No extra laps, GP or endurance options
This is obvious one, as those must be set on cabinet side.
・Some swears or slurs can be used on name entry
This is rather compared to Daytona USA on PS3/XB360, rather than the Daytona USA2 BOTE/PE. Was those words can be used on Daytona USA2 PE back then? Please let me know.
Words like ASS can be used on name entry. Some specific slurs as well, unlike Daytona USA on PS3/XB360.
However, something like 3 Xs are still can't be used. Same as Daytona USA on PS3/XB360.
I've managed to play on actual cabinet only 3 times in my life, SRC2 doesn't count. Even though I'm huge fan of Daytona USA and Daytona USA2.
Since I have very minor experience on actual cabinet, if you have noticed on differences other than I've mentioned, please let me know.
Also here's secret tricks you can use, in-case if you didn't know or new to SRC2.
・Hold Start button at course select screen to activate Mirror-Mode.
・Hold Brake at car selection to activate Reverse Mode (except for MIX/Challenge), which plays "逆走だー!" voice.
・Hold Start Button to activate Time Attack/Time-Lap mode. Edit: Hold Start on transmission select screen.
・Press Bonnet Cam twice to activate Cockpit Cam.
Just tested this with both Daytona USA via M2Emulator, Daytona USA 2 and Daytona USA 2 PE on Supermodel. Yes, you can use colorful language at Name Entry on Daytona USA 2, but not on Daytona USA. Though, let's be honest, no one puts their initials in at Name Entry on Daytona USA. Most attempt to do the easter egg names there.
True
And thank you for testing it and spending your time for my weird curiosity!
That's actually very interesting to know. I'm glad you've tested it.
