Imma be real with you, I just dont think they know what they are doing either, considering rebranding the series during its popularity peak, not when the series was at the rock bottom. Especially considering their history with store pages, both Lost Judgment's and Gaiden's were accidentally published a day before they were supposed to. I dont know why some folks in this thread are hating the dub , Yakuza LAD and the Judgement games did a pretty good in my opinion. I dont agree with RGGs pick for Kiryu but I may give it a chance, If not, theres always sub.

As for Denuvo, you know damn well a lot of devs will implement that so I dont know why yall are surprised

honestly compared to this the cameos are really cool, I mean at least most of the people featured have some love for the series and it's very very optional side content while this is an unavoidable issue if you play with the English dub.

I think a lot of it happened after Anime Expo when they finally had an opportunity to hear him do his Kiryu voice for the first time.

I didn't really see anything that much prior to it and most people didn't even know who he was but after hearing him voice Kiryu, many felt he wouldn't do the role justice and at the very least would suit a younger Kiryu and not one at this point in his life.

Don't think you'll find anyone having any issue with him voicing new characters like in Judgement but with iconic ones like Kiryu, especially after they finally had the return of Daryl in Yakuza 7 only for that decision to be immediately reversed I kinda get it.

As always, I'll be playing it in Japanese so it won't affect my experience at all but I understand where it comes from. I also understand the argument that it could have been good to find someone fresh who wasn't so popular already, that may have a lot of talent and utilise them in the role rather then going for a popular Youtuber with an established audience.

Yeah I get the concerns, but keep in mind that the line he read on Anime Expo was just a bit. One of the most important parts of voice acting is the director, especially in Ryu Ga Gotoku games.

In this video Kazuhiro Nakaya, who was doing voice over in these games since the very first game, needs advice from the director to capture the right emotion in a line. As YongYea said, they havent done the scene he acted out yet, so he did it how he saw it fit. Is his interpretation of that scene good? Yeah, thats arguable. I do think he was overacting a lot, but that doesn't really matter honestly, since in the actual game the line delivery will be completely different.

I think that just shows that Sega America is just not really handling the series well. Keep in mind they rebranded the series to its original name during its popularity peak, but not when the series was unknown in the West, with Yakuza 5 releasing here whole 3 years late.
