That city was Prem, and it was the Abandoned Mine there. I'd save outside the mine, tour it, and either get gassed and die or walk out with 2,000 more XP than I had before. Guide says there's nothing in it, however. Dawp. Looks like they also dealt with that little strength bug too. Ah, well, I'll find other ways to cheat.
Two cities have dungeon in it. One of them requires lots of time + tools (shovel + pickaxe) as you must dig through the cave-ins and then a minor riddle with an anvil and a coin...
There are misables but mostly due randomization, main quest also side quests have some trigger points randomized for each game. Also the ship adventure is kind of randomized.
First time I did beat the game I did miss a lots of side quests, second time I tried to 'catch em all' but then I fell into petty trap in one of the late dungeons and got locked permanently there (as I grew bold and did not create long-term saves only... my fault)
As for the 'to-hit' ratio, mage does own from the start his staff, which is considered as magical weapon and also has quite some points in respective weapon school category.
Important is to consider:
- does mage also deal significant DMG?
- if not, let your hunger wait in the round, so he will attack the enemy after someone else (like after the mage)
Doing so, you strip the extra PARRY safe roll from the enemy and only your ATT applies (Parry roll is applied once per combat round and even if the attacker makes a 'hit', defendant can make counter / parry roll, and negate your otherwise successful hit.
Also, ranged weapons should have nice to-hit ratio (and these ignore 'PARRY')
I played the very first games plus Ishar which was part of the series back then i enjoyed the game back in the day but they are old and could all use updating, Same with the Might & Magic Series 3DO did way back 30 or so years ago, i loved those style RPG's plenty on the market now but most lack quality gameplay and mechanics.
Anyone remember this one, it was linked to Realms Of Arkania.

This is not my review just posted to show you the old game i was refering too
You know what i used to love most about Star trail games like Realms of Arkania is that could pick pocket all the vendors in town, save before you do, go in market pick pocket till closing time and get rich, equipped my guys with the best stuff for adventure.
I can remember every person getting sick so often you need to treat all these conditions, if your party members lacked things like climbing skill you would do damage to the party or character as they tried to scale mountain ranges.
Also, if you finish the main quest you can still keep playing the game, now without the time limit.
You can't disable it!
