Love this sort of thing: http://i.imgur.com/33g0nWg.png
And with that, I'm buying! Deluxe Edition, here I come!
Human reflexes cannot keep up with computer algorythms and targeting. Its a mainstay for manufacturing industry, military applications, and all forms of science progression. We can think up the creations, but the creations can do our ramedial jobs many fold faster than we can.
You also have to take into consideration human volunteers. How would you wage wars across planets effectively if you are limited by your population of age appropriate soldiers. Or for that matter, how do you plan to fight and endurance battle of technology when it takes almost 2 decades for a suitable person to grow into helping society, whereas a robotic unit can be built in hours.
These arnt fights of humanitarian restraint or making sure to hold up the geniva convention. Its war in its ultimate form. Kill or be killed. People spend way too much time obsorbing softcore war between humans and XXXX , where both parties abide by some sort of human rules of war that always leaves that buffer to where completely idiotic human events can happen to turn the tide, that would never happen in an actual war.
If people even studied the last 2 world wars we've had, youd realise just how effective infantry is. Technological warfare, especially between robotic powers, would be so unbelievably brutal that it would make D Day look like a Spongbob cartoon.
As the saying goes, you dont bring a knife to a gun fight.
You won't regret it. The moment I saw this was released I edited my top games of the year list and slotted this in at number 2. And that was based on just one mission of beta 1 which was awesome and after which I decided to wait for the full game to play I through properly.
It could easily take the number 1 slot after I've played more than a single beta mission. :D
AND if that really is the case, within the next 24 hours (prolly much less than that) I will be buying this game!! OH YEAH!
PS! Do u guys have any screenshots with (HUMAN) infantry in'em ?
Same for me most likely! One of my favorite games is Steve Jackson's OGRE, and that game has infantry against giant tanks. It makes the game so much more immersive to imagine the fear those grunts must endure against such an onslaught. :) The human factor is important in warfare.
Sorry, I am too tired to make a screenshot right now, but here is link to a (german) video review where you can at least see the gunner infantry in action (shooting at the depot - at 3:29):
