Launch Problems
I bought EC about a week ago and haven't been able to play it yet.

The game launches in an extremely high resolution, I can hear the splash menu sounds and get to the language selection screen, but cannot see them because they are off screen. If I minimize I can see them, but then the game crashes if I try to click on it while minimized.

I tried to edit the config file only to find the game had yet to create a config file. So there is no way for me to play this game.

If anyone or any of the devs browse this place, please upload a config file and link me to it so I can edit my resolution in and finally play this game or I will be asking steam for a refund.

Seeing as the thread got some new replies.

I managed to get the game working once, but then the next day when I tried to play it again I encounted the same problem again, and the method I posted before did not help to fix it. So it must have been a fluke. Removing my other monitor did not help.

At that point I was too fed up to bother fixing it again so I dropped it and moved on, but I'd still like to play the someday.

What gus_ral described it exactly what happens when I try to launch it now.

I just don't know why developers are allowed to release games that don't either launch in desktop resultion, or come with a launcher where you can select your resolution and graphics options (windowed or not) before launching the actual game. Why is this so hard to do? It should be mandatory. I payed you money and got nothing.

I'd suggest modifying the config.ini file which can be found in "Documents\My Games\Expeditions Conquistador". "fullscreen=False" will set the windowed mode and "resolution.width" and "resolution.height" will launch your desire resolution. In order to have the latest config.ini file I'd suggest deleting the one you have and running the game so it generates a new one, then try modifying it as I wrote previously. Hope this helps.

I have already tried that, the problem is the config file does not affect the game at all.

No matter if it says to launch fullscreen or windowed, or 1920x1080 or 1024x768, it wont take notice of the differences and keeps launching at the same res (don't know what it is, but wont fit my screen) and in fullscreen mode, so all I see is black while hearing the sounds of the splash screen and language select menu. If I force it to minimize and hover over the EC icon I can see a thumbnail of the language select screen, if I click that thumbnail, the LS screen sometimes pops up, but it's frozen and clicking wont do anything.

I have already tried to put it read only, or non read only and all that, deleting it, making a new one, etc... doesn't help. The game refuses to take notice of anything in the config file.

Could you post you config.ini to pastebin (http://pastebin.com/). I'm a little curious if using yours produces the same problems here.

Hello Nova, Anborn and Mandalore.

I have some issue to follow the step-by-step you provide. But first I would like to inform that I have edited my previous post with more information regarding my System Config etc...

The problem is the game only creates a config.ini after you have succesfully choosed the language, which is impossible due to the mouse issue on clicking attempts...

Also when using the config.ini provide here there's also a problem, chaging it to "fullscreen=False" on my computer doesn't change anything, it pop-up as windowed but then automatic change to Full Screen, and when I try to change the Resolution on the config.ini it crash, giving the same error Mandalore spoked early.

I'm really happy that you guys are responding fast, but the fix provide didn't fixed my issue. I still need help to get my mouse working on this game

BTW, I have another friend that is having this issue, the very same, he is also following this tread in order to fix his issue and start to play the game...

We're a little baffled here as to why this problems is occuring, but we want to try and solve it. Do any of you have windows and the game installed on a separate partitions? (Like the game is on D:/ and Windows on C:/, or a variation thereof)
gus_ral88 Dec 3, 2013 @ 4:35am
Mine is on D:/, separeted
gus_ral88 Dec 3, 2013 @ 4:35am
Steam is also on D:/, My C:/ only have Windows, MS Office and things like that

by the way the last config.ini I tried, http://pastebin.com/5xpvmym9 , with resolution changed and fullscreen false

Hi Nova, here is a pastebin of my unresponsive config file.

I have my steam folder and all the games on it installed on an external hard drive U:/ and windows is on a smaller internal C:/ drive.

Any news folks?

When you get to the menu screen and it gets stuck, do you still see the ship in background swaying and fog moving by? Or is it during the intro movie that it appears stuck and input is unresponsive?
I really appreaciate you guys' patience and help so far, btw.

I can't get to the menu screen, just the language select screen, and no it's static.

Though if I press anything before I get's to the language select screen it will freeze immediatly as I click any button.

You wrote earlier that you were having troubling verifying the game, is that still the case?
Also, what does your DEP settings look like?
You can check by right-clicking my computer > properties. Click "Advanced system settings" in the left hand pane > go to Advanced tab and click "settings" under Performance. Then go to the Data Execution Prevention tab. What setting is it set to there?
