How to learn spike traps? and oil lamps?

I thought i would learn ability to make them by buying them from the village in the south east, but i did not.
Sadly i dont remember how i learned them last time

i am a quite far into the hispaniola campaign and havent found the oil lamps either. Last time i had those lamps vs the rebel ambush where you have to survive 10 turns. But this time i cant find it. I have explored around 90% of the map.
I simply cant remmember this one either :(

There are two villages in the eastern part of the map, I think they both sell spike traps. Try the other one?

i assume the other one is the one that you have to pay valuables for? Because i refused to compensate them for spains previous actions and killed them... so ups :P

I don't know about on the island, but you learn spikes when you get to the mainland.

now i have the same problem with the oil lamps, where did i get them last time :( ?

I believe you learn to make lanterns at some point during the main storyline.

You can learn spike traps in the village to the east of Santo Domingo by buying materials for one trap. If they are hostile and don't want to trade, you can convince them by gifting a few valuables.
