Injured Doctor whole party dies
So i had 2 Doctors, was on the mainland relatively early on, just got the idol back.
In a Battle one of my doctors gets injured and a scout. No problem i have 2 doctors to treat them, then the other doctor falls into a spike pit, now i can only treat one at a time, to keep them from dying i had to rotate whom i treat. Hoping that theres a doctors hut in one of the towns like in santo domingo, there is not. So i travel around in the hope that i do find one or i manage to heal one of my doctors, then i get ambushed at night and my soldiers only get daggers to fight, needless to say i loose and now have 6 or 7 severely, critical injured followers.
So they start dying.
Anyone have any solutions when all doctors get injured? is there somewhere a doctors hut on the mainland?
this isnt the first time this happened, previousely i only had one doctor and this time around i wanted to be on the safe side, this is now game over for me, i could maybe be left with 5 followers if i kept going. This game is a bit too much luck and chance then actually about your decisions.

Looks like a serious streak of bad luck, yes... though if that first Doctor hadn't been injured in battle, things wouldn't have degenerated anywhere near that much.

I realize it's not all that helpful, but protecting your Doctors (either by keeping them away from danger in battle, or not bringing them into a fight in the first place) is generally a very effective way to avoid this kind of situation.

If not, make sure you're ready for anything. In this case, maybe you could have won that ambush by having enough consumables in stock. Spike traps and Lanterns can decimate enemy ranks surprisingly quickly.

This is why I try to make my captain heavy on the healing side when I start off. I always have a minimum of 8 healing stat, and when my followers get injured, the captain shows up as an option to administer treatment. He's usually not hunting or guarding, so I figure that's the best use for him other than relaying my point and clicks. Never know when the doctor will get squished in battle or fall into some poisoned spike pit. I suggest if you have low healing as the main character, hire two doctors or try to be nice to native shamans and hire them along the way. Barring that, sprint to the main city and pay for their treatment in the hospital ASAP.

No, there is no healer in Mexico. The healer is kind of an early-game crutch that we added by request, but we had problems with Mexico being too easy, so obviously we didn't want to add anything in there to make it even easier.

For what it's worth, in your situation it would've been better to focus on healing one of the doctors fully. Followers don't necessarily get worse if left untreated, it's a probability check, so you might have been lucky and your second doctor would've survived until the first was back in action. Otherwise, losing one doctor is still better than potentially losing a whole handful of characters. You can pick up a shaman in Mexico through one of the side quests, he can treat injured followers too.

Thanks for all the answers.
My main character is able to heal, and i have two doctors. About leaving the other followers untreated to get a doctor back to health, id have to sacrifice at least 2 followers plus one of the doctors.
I guess ill have to load an earlier save, bite down, and sacrifice some followers.

Or don't take the gold ;-)

That damn gold almost wiped my whole party, but somehow i miraclely saved them all but had to return to Spain almost empty handed since all my treasures had been stolen since lack of guards. Good times...

What do you mean dont take the gold? what gold?

Maybe it's a reference to the shrine you see, in the part where you get the idol back? You get the option of grabbing some of the gold stuff there, I'm guessing it triggers an attack later on.
