Heyo, looking for some tips on what upgrades I should give my characters, especially scouts.

Any suggestions?

Here my favorites

Scout and Soldier:
Keen Eye ingores 7 armor
Sneak Attack increses flanking bonus

Doctor:
Weapon : Sword because the blocking shield has the 25% chance to reduce the damage by 25% (calculated 6,25%)
Evade gives 5 armor against long ranged attacks

Hunter:
Keen Eye ingores 7 armor
point black or walk your shots depending on your combat style

Scouts:
Rank 1: Fortune favored/Relentless/Blood Thirsty
Rank 2: Sneak attack

Soldier with halberd:
Rank 1: Keen Eye/Blood thirsty
Rank 2: Strider/Sexist (better with female soldiers)

Soldier with sword:
Rank 1: Block/Dodge/Good Patient
Rank 2: Hardened

Doctor:
Rank1: Constitution/Evade/Weapon: sword
Rank2: Strider

Hunter with arquebus:
Rank 1: Keen eye/ Fortune Favored
Rank 2: Walk your shots/Point blank

Hunter with bow:
Rank1: Keen eye/Lone wolf
Rank 2: Walk your shots

Thanks so much guys, this is basically what I've been going for.

I got fortune favoured on one of my hunters, on my last playthrough, was that a mistake?

Also, any recommendations on who I should upgrade to officer/lieutenant?

Fortune favored is ok, if your hunter have arquebus it is better.

I would advice to avoid giving officer promotions to hunters, doctors and scholars. Soldiers are the best choice at first, then maybe a scout if you like, or Coyotl/Citlalli (native followers that you can recruit in Mexico).

At the start of Mexcio promote one scout or soldier to sergeant for the leadership bonus.
Spare some xp for promoting the champion and the amazon to veteran (I highly recommend to recruit them).

I was super-racist on my first playthrough, so I didn't get to try out a lot of native followers. Looking forward to trying them out in this new playthrough.
