Once again about Esteban...
This is probably getting old, but as the one who has (quite absurdly irrational) irresistible urge to have access to all available content in a game, I've added myself both kickstarter's amulet (via console... I still has not used it yet and I even have no idea what it does - it just lays in my inventory) and Esteban (via file editing... though if he wasn't exclusive character, I'd most likely kill him right away).

Don't blame me much, I've found out about this game just two weeks ago. I doubt I had any chances to participate in kickstarting campaign.

Anyway, I have several questions to the devs.
First one: what's wrong with the modded languages? If I just copy one of the default languages and rename the folder, there's a good chance that loading my savegame with the 'new' language will load my savegame incorrectly and will make the game unplayable. That's kinda weird.
Second one: why does Esteban disappears after every camping? I mean, I really can't find any trace in .xmls, .assets, any other files or in-game memory to the reasons of his disappearance and it really bugs me. I've read something on kickstarter about 'key file' for backers, is it the reason?

Awesome game overall, one of the best, classy RPGs for the last several years. Thanks for putting in on GOG, DRM-free, and thanks for doing it without tons of DLCs. Useless DLCs and DRMs are a bane of modern gaming industry. Can't wait for Vikings, hope it will be just as good... and without exclusives.

Not sure what's up with the modded languages. Have you tried following the tutorial on our youtube channel step by step?

As for Esteban disappearing, that is indeed the reason.

Nope. Can you provide a link? I'll take a look. Using GOG version, by the way. And it is also kinda random. Sometimes it loads my savegame incorrectly, though sometimes it's OK. I clearly have no idea what's the reason behind it, and I'd really like to do some additional tinkering in the files.

Well, here's what i've been told and what I've done: "if you look in the "level0.xml" file, search for "HasEstebanContent" in a text editor - ideally one that can handle XML tags easily (this isn't necessary, but makes things easier). Then remove those lines and the enclosing tag. So you'd have to remove the line: <Condition tag="Condition: HasEstebanContent"> and further down there should be another </Condition> tag - hopefully the file is formatted properly. Make sure you don't remove the wrong </Condition> tag though.
Also you'll probably need to remove <ConditionTag /> directly underneath the HasEstebanContent line, as well as the <ConditionText>HasEstebanContent</Condition> line underneath that one, so that there are no errors in the XML."
If you know how to handle .xml, it would be much easier for you. The level0.xml is in the Documents\My Games\Expeditions Conquistador\Override\English folder. Some more info from my personal experience: "copy the English folder and do not touch it anymore. Attempts to rename the folder potentially lead to more glitches. Edit the heck out the Conditions out of level0. Then start the game and load the save file with standart English language (loading with the modded ones gives me critical error and clears my log). In the game, change the language to the modded one, then start the battle. Then it should work well..."
Nova right here recommended to use Fabula Event Editor, but I didn't touch Expeditions since then, so I have not tried it yet, so I can't tell a thing about it. Maybe you should watch those two videos above and do it some another way.

and it doesnt work, I began a new campaing and all. I was using the spanish version. I hope you guys could solve the problem. :)

New campaign is definitely not essential. But what do you mean it doesn't work? Ts way Esteban joins you like he normally should - after you complete the mission with ritual sacrifice. Is it the way you do it?

Yes. It didn't worked, even I had fixed the same xml on the english file.

I have a question about the "additem" code. I know that the syntax for lanterns is "additem Lantern #". "additem Barricade #." How do you add spike/net traps & caltrops? Also, do you have a complete list of items that can be added by code?

it's SpikeTrap NetTrap CaltropTrap , so for example to add 5 spiked traps you use= giveitem SpikeTrap 5

Sorry to necro, but is there any possible workaround for Esteban disappearing every time you camp? I successfully modded my game as per the above and got the event to fire successfully, but it'd be nice to actually get to use him as a full character. After playing through this much-beloved game three or four times over the years in an unmodded state, it'd be nice to have him along for one last playthrough.
