When you are on your ship, you will see telescope on your commands tabs between Cannon and Wait. That is the scope ability.

With that being said, I too am having a hell of a time finding Kenner in the sea so any help would be appreciated.

I don't know wether it's an intentionally wrong hint, but Kenner is definitely not south east to what i'd recognize as a big cross in the sea and I searched for ages as well. Talking 'bout an unreliable narrator amirite?

Kenner location is actually... in the north east of the sea on a claw-shaped island called 'the claw'

Thank you very much! I finally found him and killed him.

With that said, unless I am missing something, I am not seeing any connection between the info we got about the giant cross and the actual location being completely different and far away from said giant cross.

I just found this location and while I don't think it was helpful (I had to already be nearly on top of the island before I found the big cross), it was technically accurate - there's a much smaller island NW of the claw-shaped island, with a cross in the middle of it (not a cross-shaped bit of land, but one map tile with a cross graphic)

As far as I can tell, there is a landmass that looks _roughly_ like a cross nearby but you need to flip the directions. So find the thing that looks like a cross if you squint hard enough, then go about 9 north and 18 east. The directions are still a bit off, but they will land you in the right general area.

If you sail directly east from the jetty near Hearthaven's teleport Henge, that will take you right to the small island with the giant cross as well as the place you are actually trying to get to. Note that the place you are trying to get to is actually more east of the giant cross island than southeast as stated in the clue.
