Fix! for not enough vram/aspect ratio not supported
All you need to do is go to C:\Users\"yourusername"\AppData\Roaming\MKKE open dxdiag.txt and find the line "Dedicated Memory:" and replace whatever is there with this: "Dedicated Memory: 1024 MB" (in between the quotes of course). After that save and bam! it will run no problem. I take no credit, I found this info somewhere else. I'm just spreading the word.

Thanks to lilkangoo for reminding me You MUST have the dxdiag.txt set to read only in properties or it will overwrite on every startup and it won't work!

The problem was resolved on a laptop with the Intel HD 4000 chipset

This fix is for the crash on startup errors. Is that what is happening in your situation?

I'm having the same problem. I have also Intel HD 4000 Chipset and GeForce GT 635M. After dxdiag changed I'm running game and I still have the same error about ratio and vram and in dxdiag are again the previous setup in Dedicated Memory.

Ok, I figure it out. You need dxdiag set on Read Only :)

Just wanted to say thanks for this! :) MK's working like a charm now. I do find it weird that they only gave it 32mb of dedicated memory tho.

Open the options.ini file in the same folder as dxdiag.txt and change the resolution there to a comparable 16:9 one. For example, if you have a resolution of 1280:1024, change it to 1280:720. This will get rid of the black bars, though the image will stretch a bit to fill out the screen.

My system: notebook i3-3110M 2.4Ghz 4Gb RAM HD4000 (videodriver 5.2013) Windows 8 x64.
Before success start of game, i have two errors - not enough video memory and aspect is not supported. But now I am playing!
1. open BIOS - advanced - graphics configuration - DVMT Pre-Allocated - In my case it was 32. Set it to max value (512 in my case). I set to 512. Save changes and exit.
2. open file with notepad (or wordpad) dxdiag.txt in C:\Users\"USER NAME"\AppData\Roaming\MKKE
search word "Dedicated" and type value "1024". Save file and exit. Then make the file read only (click right mouse button on file - properties - read only and apply).
3. open file with notepad (or wordpad)
options.ini in same path C:\Users\"USER NAME"\AppData\Roaming\MKKE
max_texture set to "1024" Save and close. Then make the file read only (click right mouse button on file - properties - read only and apply).

if game not started yet, try this:
open options.ini in C:\Users\"USER NAME"\AppData\Roaming\MKKE
shadow_size set to "0"

try to start the game! In my case game started, automatically detected optimal graphics options and as a result, 1280x720 and all on minimal value. Try to fight in practice - and i see good fps, without lagg. (near 25-30 fps).

+ you may change resolution in options.ini after success start of game - new parameter appears (minimal in game is 1280x720 - in my case). You can try other resolutions, but keep aspect 16:9 because other (for example, 16:10) may not supported by game

This game is bugged for most laptop users, with my desktop I can play at every resolution 4:3 ,16:9, 16:10. (playing at 16:10 1680x1050 max resolution for my monitor,60fps stable.)

My system:
Desktop
Q6600 3.0Ghz
3GB DDR2 RAM
Asus P5KPL-VM motherboard
6870 Hawk
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

I had the same problem - I have GT650M with 2GB on my laptop, but i still could not launch the game.
What I did to fix it:
- edit C:\Users\"yourusername"\AppData\Roaming\MKKE\dxdiag.txt
- change value of Dedicated Memory to 1024MB
- change value of Device Key for address of your dedicated graphic card
(in win7 - right click on my computer -> properties -> device manager -> find your dedicated graphic card -> properties -> details -> hardware ID -> copy first value)
value of "Device Key" should looke like this: Enum\+YOUR_GRAPHIC_CARD_ID

- AFTER changes - this dxidiag file needs to be marked as READ ONLY. Otherwise launching MK will restore previous configuration.

Now i'm able to play on any resoultion that is supported by my graphic card in full details.
