Yes you can play with the keyboard. A lot of people choose to use a controller since they're impatient and don't want to learn the controls of the keyboard. I personally use keyboard controls, and while it took a little while to get used to, it works fine for me.

Played this at a buddy's. I chose keyboard and regretted it. Unless we just didn't know what the hell we were doing, the controls between the main menu and everything else seemed entirely differnet.

The issue with keyboard isn't patience but rather the efficiency while playing. It is more efficient to play a fighting game with a fight stick or a game controller than a keyboard.

what do you mean? the buttons where just ehmmm complicated ?
It's very, VERY easy to play on a keyboard. I do on PC fighters when I can't be bothered to get my stick, and although it takes some getting used to, you'll be no worse than anyone playing on stick or pad once you're used to it.

If you're used to FPSs, try this. It's very similar to a HitBox fight controller (Basically an arcade stick without a stick, that uses buttons.)
1, 2, 3, 4 signify what would be X, Y, A, B on a 360 controller if you're looking at preset #1.

< - A
> -D
^ - W or Space (Personally, I like space)
v - S or Ctrl (Personally, I like ctrl)
1 (FP) - Numpad 7
2 (BP) - Numpad 9
3 (FK) - Numpad 4
4 (BK) - Numpad 6
Block - Numpad 8
Stance - Numpad 5
Tag - E or Numpad +
Throw - Q (though you're probably better off using punch/kick together)

This way, you can block easily, have access to all controls simply, and can meter burn moves easily with your middle finger on Numpad 8, where it'll rest naturally. If you want to XRay at any time it's a simple matter of dropping the finger back slightly.

As an aside, this also works really well for Street Fighter and SFxT, just replacing the middle buttons with MP and MK. Hope this helps you!

well it doesnt sound so hard to play with keyboard...i quess i have to try it out...but i didnt understanx how you can use the XRay with the keyboard ?
With the setup I just gave you, it's simply a matter of hitting numpad 5 and 8 at the same time. That should be fairly easy with a slight movement of your middle finger if it's usually resting on 8.

Yeah, it's not hard, it's just tedious. You do XRays by pressing Left Shift + Spacebar.

No, not really. Your brain is most likely just too used to controls on a PS3/X360 controller, and it needs to adjust itself to using controls on a keyboard. I'm able to attack in this game with just using my pointer and middle finger using the default setup. Again, it's a matter of patience and getting your brain used to keyboard controls on a fighting game.

Oh, absolutely. You can map it however you like. I can tell you for certain though that the one I just linked works amazingly for me so it might work for a fair few other people.

you can play with keyboard but finishing story mode with keyboard is pain in the ass - ai is cheating, ai know every character's move which he is playing, you often need to play 2vs1 which is pure ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and you can't change diffuculty and i'm stuck on fight smoke vs sub-zero + reptile and i don't know how to win that even after 20th try... what the ♥♥♥♥ devs it isn't 20th century gamming when everyone want to spent their whole life on one fight
