Fullscreen with 16:10 NO BARS! Solution here!
Hello there,
open the .ini in that specific folder

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\MKKE\options.ini

and change the second value in the bracket to a 16:9 value.

1)resolution = {1920, 1200} changes to
2)resolution = {1920, 1080}

For users with a resolution of
{1280, 800} => {1280, 720}
{1440, 900} => {1440, 810}
{1680, 1050} => {1680, 945}
{1920, 1200} => {1920, 1080}
{2560, 1600} => {2560, 1440}

save and start the game.

Beware that this will stretch the picture a little bit. But I'll take it for finally getting rid of those black bars.

edit: if this does not work, try to change your monitor resolution to a 16:9 value as well and then start the game, exit the game and change it back to 16:10.

Thanks for posting this. It didn't work for me at first, but when I changed my monitor resolution it worked. I agree, and it doesn't look bad at all when stretched.

Is there also an refresh rate .ini to edit to make 120 hz instead of 60 hz ?

there is none, afaik.

I can confirm this works for 5:4 aspect ratio as well.

I did all of this and still doesn't work for me :S

I've changed my monitor resolution to 1600x900 (16:9) then changed the option.ini file's value ( {1440, 900} => {1440, 810} ) ... opened the game, checked that resolution were actually 1440x810 (16:9) in video's option, then I've closed the game and changed the monitor resolution to 1680x1050 (16:10) (native resolution).

I've opened the game again, and those ♥♥♥♥♥♥ black bars are still in there...

Am I doing it wrong?

Any ideas how to do it with 4:3 monitor on 1400x1050 res? i appriciate help im just annoyed much by this bars :/

@ramasaurio
You have to change your monitor resolution, when not in game, to to the same resolution which you want to use in your game. Not 1600x900 but 1440x810, then start the game and look if it works.

@RaVen
You may want to ask Zoinker if it's not working for you.
Hedrox™ Jul 7, 2013 @ 11:45am
this is pointless, as you're not getting more information where the black bars would be, you're just getting a distorted image
Zoinker Jul 7, 2013 @ 12:10pm
I didn't have to change my native resolution at all. I just edited the options.ini value (My native resolution is 1280:1024, the value I entered was 1280:720). @RaVen; If 1400:1050 is your native resolution, then try editing the options.ini value to 1400:787.

@Hedrox: While doing this will strectch the image a bit, a lot of people, myself included, prefer that to having the game only use parts of the screen. It's not a matter of 'getting more information', but of making it easier to look at.

It would be like watching a 16:9 widescreen movie stretched to 4:3, maybe some people find that easier to look at, but for me that's wose than watching it with black bars.
At the end of the day the whole point of back bars is to keep the original intended aspect ratio, but each person has its own preference so there is no right or wrong.

I have the same native resolution but the bars are still there after I modify the .ini file... Do you know how could I solve this?

Have you tested this on a 2560x1440 or higher monitor? The game won't display in that higher res for me.
Thanks I was able to get it to work after i changed my monitor resolution on the desktop and added the 2560x1600 in mkke options
