Escape key fix?

Basically, the esc key doesnt work so i am unable to quit mid fight or even see the moves list. Any ideas?

press 1 and it will open up the menu

I have the same issues, except that I'm trying to use an 8-button controller. There is no button left for pause/back, so I can't bring up the menu from the controller alone, but the game refuses to accept input from the keyboard once I've selected the controller to be used for a session... o.O
How could I fix this?

You need to buy better controler. My PAD have only 10 without two additional buttons in analog sticks and it works perfectly in MK. Or you can change two combat buttons for pause and back buttons, but you will loose some combat actions.
The choise is yours.
