Why was it removed?
As per title. I gifted it to a dear friend of mine a few years ago and went back today just to find it's been put down. Luckily it has library sharing. I have it on PS3, too.

They couldn't keep the copyright for Freddy Kruger, which normally they would just remove the DLC, but considering he came baked in to this version it was just easier for them to remove the whole thing.

Wish they would re-release it, but they are so caught up in future titles it is likely that the only way anyone will ever experience it again is by either spending an arm and a leg for it, or pirate it.

Buy a Steam code from G_2_A (without the underscores). I bought one and it works.

with all respect. 18€ is a lil too much for a 11 year old game.

It's only that expensive because the codes are now finite due to the removal of the sale. As more people buy the game, less codes will be available, leading to an increase in price. If you want the game, now is the time to buy it.

Well no, I'd rather play it in my friend's library or turn on my PS3 since I have it there. I have preordered the next Mortal Kombat at a less price. Funny how POSTAL 3 was removed in November and I still somehow managed to get it at 6€. That must be trash.

That's false. They paid for the rights for use with the game.

The problem is it's way better than X and XI

This is for people who are planning to get the game on G_2_A . Be careful with who you buy from. I tried doing it and got a duplicate key. However I should be able to get a refund as I contacted the seller! Be safe, yall.

Source????

Yes, MK9 is better than X and XI but do you have a source about why mk9 was delisted?

Truth is that licenses are the issue, this kind of games are at risk of being delisted specially if they are old and sequels are planned. X and XI will suffer the same fate same as MK1.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/1af0qzm/spec_ops_to_be_delisted_entirely_from_online/

Spec Ops to be delisted entirely from online gaming stores (not just Steam) "Spec Ops: The Line will no longer be available on online storefronts, as several partnership licenses related to the game are expiring...

Reason? Probably the licensed music. Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix, Mogwai, Alice in Chains, Björk etc...

Any game that have at least an ounce of licensed content, will die: Not only music, but also real life weapons, vehicles, celebrities and even buildings (like the Burj Khalifa or the illuminating Eiffel Tower).

I strongly recommend follow “Games at a risk of removal” on Steam, and see which games will get the boot specifically those who already are on the 10 year mark and sold poorly.

simpsons hit & run???? only available in abandonware sites and fan sites, why is not being sold officially? copyright, license issues obviously.

keep telling yourself that licenses are not an issue, all of the above is proof enough that licensed content is a death sentence.

Sony removing content you "purchased" from your libraries, that's hilarious, and square enix removed a game from steam but not only that but valve also removed the game from everyone's libraries cuz had always online drm.

Sadly the only way to get those games is with keys or becoming jack sparrow.

Source is simply obvious. The license was bought and applies to the game indefinitely. It can't expire for that game. Rings of power season 1 dvds still retain the right to be sold. The ip exists with the title already produced.

I can't imagine being this confidently incorrect.

Warner owns freddy's rights.
number 1 even frickin meta ai of all things admitted it
2 why is freddy still in the mobile game if he was the reason for MK9 removal
and 3 if u have the nightmare on elm street 2010 movie on dvd or even on streaming load it up and the WB logo will show.
They Removed MK9 cuz it goes against what they stand for now

Look at gta games some of the music was taken out because of their licensing expired. Same with freddy. And no Warner Brothers do not own the rights to freddy. Wes Cravens estate does. They only license out the character for so long then after that expires they have to either renew the license or remove the character.

The rights to the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" franchise, including the character Freddy Krueger, are owned by the estate of Wes Craven.

While the estate of Wes Craven has the rights to the character and franchise, Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema retain the international rights.

Freddy the soyboy is still in the mobile game and nobody removes the game from the store. It was never confirmed officially that Freddy caused a loycensing issue for MK9.
What version MK is Mortal Kombat Komplete edition?
Is it 9, 10 or 11? Or something else?
